Saturday Day Drunks

Well around 18:30 hours the pager went off for an accident with injuries in Halifax Township, with a motorcycle versus a car. Me and my father got in 13-1 and off we went. We got on the scene at the same time as Engine 29-1. The guy on the motorcycle was complaining of pain in his head. He did not have a helmet on. Medic 6 showed up and then we took him down to Hershey Hospital where for the second day in a row, we took him into one of the trauma rooms with the trauma team. After we got what we needed down there we headed on home. The medic was picked up at our station and me and my father restocked and logged our times in. After that we headed on home. We got home around 21:00 hours and I got a snack and finished up a few things on the computer. I went to bed around 02:00 hours and about 20 minutes later was rocked out of bed when the pager went off for chest pains in Wayne Township. Both me and my father got out of bed and got changed and got in 13-1 and off we went. We got there, followed by Medic 6 and then we took her on down to Osteo Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on home. We dropped the meidc off at Sheetz and then stopped and got disiel and then headed back to the "Barn". We dropped the unit off, logged our times in and then we headed on home. We got home around 04:45 horus and I got to bed around 05:00 hours. I was rocked out of bed around 08:08 hours when the pager went off for an unconscious person in Wayne Township. Dohn and Carol were on by that time, but I got up anyway, got dressed and headed on up to the fire house for the Chicken BBQ today. I got up there and spent the whole morning up there helping out with that. Around 11:15 hours the pager went off for an accident with injuriers in Reed Township at the Clarks Ferry Bridge. Dohn and Carol went responding. For the third day in a row now we have taken someone to Hershey and into the trauma room with the trauma team. I left the fire house around 12:30 hours and headed on home. Once home I ate mu chicken, then took a shower and headed into town. I went to Giant and picked up a gallon of milk and then headed back to the shed to do my paperwork from my two calls. Dohn and Carol showed up soon after I got there and we talked for a little bit and then they headed home. Bill then showed up and he helped me clean up the backboard from the motorcycle guy. We had to use the pressure washer on the two straps to clean the blood off of them. After that I hung the two straps up outside to dry off and ran a backboard up to Millersburg Ambulance. On my way back through, I stopped and checked on the straps. They were dry so I took them back to the office and then I picked up my milk and headed on home. I am getting ready to eat dinner soon, and then I am going into the "Barn" to help Sue with her tripsheet from Friday night's accident. After that I will be back on the internet, checking my email and surfing the net. Will be on late tongiht so give a buzz if you want to talk.

It's a case of the Friday Night Drunks

Last night around a little after 23:00 hours, the pager went off for an accident with injuries in Reed Township. I got my boots on and my father got dressed and we got in 13-1 and off we went. We picked up Sue in front of 29's station and continued on down to the scene. A 39 year old female had lost control of her car, left the roadway, sheared off a utility pole and then rolled her car one to two times, landing on it's roof on the railroad tracks. Perry Medic 81 showed up at the same time that we did. We helped the fire department get her onto a backboard and then loaded her in the unit and headed on down to Hershey Hospital. We got down there and took her into the trauma room and handed her off to them. While we were down there we picked up a backboard belonging to the fire department. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on home. We dropped the medic off at the Clarks Ferry bridge and then headed to the fire station. We dropped their backboard off and then dropped Sue off at her car. After we did that we headed to Shell to get disiel. Sue stopped there also and got a bottle of iced tea. She bought me my soda (thank you Sue) and then we talked a little bit more and then she headed on home. After we finihsed fueling up we headed back to the "Barn" where we restocked and I logged our times in. After that we headed on home. Once at home I finished up a few things on the computer, then read some to unwind and then went to bed around 03:00 hours.

I got up this morning around 10:00 hours. I got changed, read the paper and then ate lunch around 12:00 hours while I played on the PS2. Around 13:20 hours the pager went off for seizure in Halifax Township at Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. Me and my dad got in 13-1 and off we went. We met Bill on the scene, loaded him up and then met the medic at the church in Fisherville. We took the guy down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there we headed on home. We dropped the medic off at his truck and then we dropped Bill of at his truck and then headed into the "Barn". We restocked and logged our times in and then we headed on home. Once home I finished playing my game of Outlaw Golf 2. I got off around 17:00 hours and took a shower. Just finished eating dinner and am getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk. Only 12 more hours to go of my 48 hours shitf. Also don't forget to stop by the Fisherville Fire Company's Chicken BBQ tomorrow. We will start selling them around 11:00 hours until they are all gone.

Outlaw Golf 2

Went to bed last night around 02:00 hours and got up this morning around 10:00 hours. I got changed, ate breakfast and read the paper. I then got on the PS2 and played on that until 19:00 hours. I ate lunch and dinner while I played on the PS2. It was a very quiet day today, not a single call. Then around 18:00 hours me and my father headed on into the "Barn" to pick up 13-1 and bring it out to the house. While we were there, I logged my time for the day in and we picked up our schedule's for next month. After that we headed on home and I got back on the PS2 yntil 19:00 hours when I got off to watch the two epsiodes of "Trauma, Life in the ER". Just finished eating a snack, and am now getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight, so give a buzz if you want to talk. Only 34 more hours left to go.

Sexy Sisters

Went to bed last night around 02:00 hours and was rocked out of bed this morning around 08:00 hours when the pager went off for a seizure in Millersburg Borough. I got out of bed and gor dressed, did the five minute dance, took my morning medication, then got in my car and headed to Dohn's house. I met Dohn there adn we got in 13-1 and off we went. We got up there and took the little guy down to Holy Spirit Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on home. We stopped at Sheetz on the way home and I picked up lunch. After that we started out towards Dohn's house so I could pick up my car. Well needless to say, we did not get that far. Actually we ended up going past it. As we came upon Kiners, the pager went off for breathing problems in Jackson Township. The address was on the road that runs behind the firehouse. We went responding and got on the scene. We loaded her up and met Perry Medic 81 at the church in Fisherville. After he got on board, we headed on down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on home again. I ate my now warm lunch on the way home. We dropped the medic off and then we went to Dohn's house. I picked up my car and headed on into the "Barn" to do my paper work from yesterdays call and this mornings two calls. When I got in there Bill was there and had just finished getting my times for me. He did his tripsheet from yesterday, then I got on and did my three tripsheets. After I was done there, I went up to Giant and picked up a few things, then stopped at Dohn's house and placed supplies in 13-1, and then headed on home. Once at home I sat down and read the paper. I had just finished reading the paper and layed back in the chair, when the pager went off for an assult person in Upper Paxton Township. I got up and got in my car and headed to Dohn' house. I met Dohn and Bill there and we went responding. We got about 3 minutes from Dohn's house when PSP placed us in service. So we turned around and headed back to Dohn's house. I then headed back home. Once at home I got on the PS2, but that was short lived ,as around 15:48 horus the pager went off for the same assult person in Upper Paxton Township at the Family Dollar. I got back in my car and headed to Dohn's house again. I got there and Bill pulled in behind me. We both got in 13-1 and we went responding again. We got there and this 25 year old girl was assulted by her manager's ex-girlfriend, who thought that the patient was trying to hook up with the manager. She wanted to go down to Hershey Hospital and get checked out since she was punched a few times in the head, and she has had problems with her head since she had her car accident in 2002. She also was considerend about her stomach as she was kicked in it a few times, and there was a possibility that she night have been 4 week pregant. We loaded her up and then the patients damn cute sister got in the back of the uint and sat down beside me. Boy was she ever good looking. So was the patient, but she had a kid and possiblly another one on the way. Me and the patients sister talked some on the way down to the hospital. When we got down to the hospital after we took the patient into the room and helped her over to the bed, and I saw a flash of panties, her sister pulled me aside and asked me to show her where the bathroom was. I galdly said yes and proceeded to show her how to get out of the emergency room to the outside so she could smoke a cig when she got a chance, then I showed her where the bathroom was. I then went into the bathroom and came out and got a soda just as the sister came out of the bathroom. I asked her if she knew how to get back to the room, and she said that I had better walk back with her just in case she got lost. So while I took her back I took the oppournity to make some small talk with her. She was a very nice girl, works at the Bon-Ton in Colonial Park and lives in Gratz. Once we got bacj to the room I asked her if she knew how to get outside and she said yeah, and that if she forgot, she would ask someone. I told her ok and that I hoped that her sister got better and that everything was fine with her sisters baby. I then went and helped Dohn remake the stretcher up and then went and grabbed our backboard and CID'S. I took them outside and Dohn yelled for me to bring him a wheel chair. I did this and here there was a man sitting on the bench outside the ER that was having some slight chest pains. Dohn helped him into the wheel chair and then took him into the ER. I asked Dohn to give me the keys. Hershey Ambulance 4-8 was sitting in front of the ER and there engine would not turn over. So I pulled the ambulance along side of thiers and got the jumper cables out and we hooked them up and gave them a jump. They thanked us many times and then left. We then headed on home. Dohn took us out to his house where I picked up my car and headed into the shed to log my times in for the day. Bill was there, I logged my times in, and then went up to McDonald's and picked up dinner and headed on home. Once home I sat down and ate dinner while watching "Traumam Life in the ER". I then took a nice cool shower. Getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk. Starting a 48 hours shift tomorrow morning at 06:00 hours.

Sexy Mommy

Went to bed last night around 02:30 hours and was rocked out of bed this morning around 05:20 hours when the pager went off for a sick person in Halifax Township. I got out of bed and called Carol to make sure her and Dohn were up. They were and they then headed into the station and went responding. I listend to the pager until they went enroute to the hospital, then I reset the pager and went back to bed. Then around 07:00 hours the pager went off for a sick person in Halifax Township. I got up and got dressed and got in my car and headed for the scene, since Dohn and Carol, were not back yet, Deb had the grandkids, and neither Bill nor myself can drive the uint. Sue offered to help at the scene, but I told her that we had no one that could drive to bring the unit out to the scene. I got there and got vitals on the guy when Bill showed up, followed by Medic 6. Medic 6 handeled the call. I took the squad back to Sheetz and parked it and then Bill took me back out to the house so I could pick up my car. I then went to Giant and picked up a gallon of iced tea for me and then headed back to the "Barn" to talk with Dohn, Carol, and Bill. I talked with them for a little bit and then headed on home. Once at home I took a shower and then ate breakfast and read the paper. I then got on the PS2. While i was playing the pager went off for an unknown problem at the base of the mountain. 13-1 went responding, but was cancalled a few minutes later as there was no car to be found. Then about an hour later the pager went off again for chest pains in Millersburg Borough. 13-1 again went responding and they ended up taking her down to Holy Spirit Hospital. While they were down there, the pager went off again for a laceration in Halifax Township. I got dressed as I was originally going to head to the scene, but as I was getting dressed, Scott called my cell phone and asked me if I was going and I said yes. He told me that he would meet me in at the station. SO I finished getting dressed and got in my car nad headed on into the station. I got there and Scott was on his new motorcycle. My father had already left for Williamstown for judging duty for their parade tonight. Me and Scott got in 13-2 and off we went. We got there and the kid had stuck his arm through a window. He told us that he was locked out and trying to get back in by pushing on his sister's window, and his had went through it. He had a nasty cut on his left arm and it completely soaked through the first trauma dressing that we had put on it. We met up with 13-1 and had the medic ride along down with us to Harrisburg Hospital. We got what we needed down there and headed on home. We dropped the medic off at Sheetz and then went back to the shed to restock and log in our times. I then headed home and finished up on the PS2, then got off to way dinner and watch "Trauma, Life in the ER". Getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.

A day off

Went to bed last night around 02:00 hours and Monday mornings early, early call caught up with me last night. I got up around 13:10 hours. Boy did I ever sleep in. My mother actually came in and woke me up and said "you know it's past 1." So I got out of bed, read the paper, and then made lunch and got on the PS2. I stayed on there until 18:00 hours. I got off ate, dinner and then watched some TV. Did not really do a lot today because I got up late. The pager went off around 18:20 hours for seizures in Upper Paxton Township at SLV. I got ahold of the people on tonight and they went responding, but they got cancelled right away as 20's other unit got out. Getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.

Silo fall down and go BOOM!

Around 22:30 hours last night my dad told me to get dressed and because we had to go over to Wayne Township on Back Road, because there was a silo in danger of collapsing. I put my away message up and off we went (Sorry Sue). We got over there, and sure as shit if that silo was not leaning. There was really nothing we could do for it except let nature take its course. Me and my father then came home around 23:30 hours. My father went straught to bed and I watched "Will & Grace". I went back to my room at 24:00 hours and got back on the internet. Around 00:07 hours the pager went off for an accident with entrapment on McClellan Road. Me and my father quickly got dressed and got in 13-1 and off we went. We ended up beating Engine 29-1 to the scene by a few seconds. When we got there, the kid was pinned under the left rear tire, which was resting on his left leg. I told my dad to have county put the chopper in the air, and then went back to taking care of the kid. I ma pretty sure that Amanda knows the kid, (I will not mention his name on this blog, to protect his idenity). It took us, Medic 6 and the fire deaprtment about 30 minutes to get him out from under the car and loaded into the back of the ambulance with the fligt crew. We proceeded to the landing zone and transferred him over to the chopper and he took off. After that we went back to the scene to check that we got all the equipment and get some pictures. After that Alfe invited us back to the fire house for a debreifeing, which was a nice thing and should be done after every major accident such as this. While we were there, we cleaned up the back of the unit and then headed back to the station to restock in log our times. After we were done at the station we headed on home. Once home we found out that the power had flicked off for a second and then come back on. I finished up a few things and then went straight to bed.

I got up this morning around 10:00 hours and ate breakfast and read the paper. I then got changed and headed into town. I first got the mail as it had just come, and the blue bands came today. So on my way in, I stopped at Carols and dropped their tow bands off and talked with her about last night. I then headed into Rite Aid and dropped the camera from 13-1 off to be devloped. I then ran over to McDonald's and got lunch and then headed back to the "Barn" to do my paperwork from last night. Bill was there finishing up his tripsheet from Saturday. I then ate lunch and did mine. After that I ran back up to Rite Aid and picked up the pictures and went back to the station to show Bill. After I left there, I stopped at Dohn's to show them the pics, and then from there, headed on home. Once at home, I got on the PS2 and then my mother came home about 30 minutes later. I got off and helped her bring some things in and then we talked. My father then came home and then him and me went back over to the farm where the silo was in danger of collapsing. As we came over the top of the ridge, we could see right away that it had collapsed at some point. We found out that it collapased at 10:30 hours this morning. My father took pictures and then we headed on home. Once home I got changed and took a nice cool shower. After that I ate dinner while I watched "Trauma, Life in the ER" and then "Impact, Stories of Survival" I am getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. I will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.

Scott then beeped my cell phone and asked me if I would cover for him tonight and I said sure. I then watched the race which lasted until about 18:00 hours and then got dressed and me and my father headed into the station to pick up the unit and bring it home. I know that one foot is bigger than the other, your tits are the same way

Went to bed last night around 02:30 hours and got up this morning around 09:30 hours. My father had taken the unit back out to the Fetterhoff's house and brought my car back. I ate breakfast and read the paper. I then started putting the stuff on my shirt for today. I started with my badag, then my collar pins and ended with my name tag. Around 10:45 hours I started getting dressed. I left the house around 10:50 hours and head for the station. I parked my car and went into the hall and let them know I was here, and then wnet outside and down to the station. Bubba was there along with a few other people. Me and another young kid were assigned to appartus watch. Basically we had to watch for the other appartus to show up and then park them on the position that Bubba wanted them to be. Around 12:00 hours they staretd the life time membership dinner. Around 12:45 hours we were instructed to go up and grab something to eat. Me and the other guy who was with me went up and grabbed a plate and headed back on down to the station to continue our watch. Around 13:30 hours, the appartus started rolling in. Millersburg was the first to arrive with their ladder truck. I had them park down the middle of the open lot. Next to arrive was Klingerstown with their Brush Truck. I parked them. Then the flood started. Next in came Carsonville's two engines. I got on the Mack and rode along down with them to show them where to park. They were followed by Elizabethville with there Engine. I showed them where to park. Next they started moving our appartus down to the station for the housuing cermoney. Next in came the ambulance with Dohn, Carol and Bill on it. I showed them were they were to park. And last to come in was Halifax with their Engine. Bones was driving. I stopped them and had him roll down the window and then stood on the small step and held on to the rail like I did with Carsonville and rode along down with them to show them where to park. Wiconisco came by POV later on. We started the cermoney around 14:10 hours and Bubba had the two Assistant Chiefs and the one township supervision cristen the truck with champign. After that we pushed the tanker in the station and then every company pushed it in with their respective chief driving the tanker. After that Bubba thanked some people and then we went up to the hall for some munchies. I was really gald that Larry was able to make it up for the housing today. We talked some and then people started leaving. The ambulance was the last to leave. I left there around 16:10 hours and headed on home. Once home I got changed and took a shower and then got on the computer. I am getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. I will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.

Around 13:30 hours the pager went off for breathing problems at Community Medical Associate ibn Halifax Township. I got in my car and headed to Dohn's house. I met up with Dohn there and then Bill pulled in. Bill got in 13-1 and off we went. Bill said he was to blame for the call, because he had just come out of Giant. We got there and then Medic 6 showed up. There was 2 meidcs, one being broken in, so I rode up front with Dohn since there was already four people in the back countint the patient. We took him down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there we headed on home. We dropped the medics off at the medical center and then stopped at the "Barn" so I could log my time. After that we went back out to Dohn's house and picked up our cars. I headed on home. Once at home I was talking with my parents when the phone rang. It was Dohn asking my father if he wanted to gopn on early since they were going to take the kids up to Knoble's for the evening. He said yes, so we took my car out to there house and picked up the unit. After we got back I got back on the PS2 until 19:00 hours when I got off to watch two epsiodes of "Trauma, Life in the ER". Around 20:08 hours the pager went off for seizures in Northumberland County. We went responding and we got about 1 minute fomr the house when we were placed in service. I got up and went to the bathroom and my dear mother brought me my medication to take, then I got dressed, got in my car and headed into the station. As I passed Kiner's, I saw Dohn up ahead of me, so I pulled in behind him. We got at the station at the same time, got in 13-1 and off we went. We got there and took the kid down to Harrisburg Hospital. We got what we needed down there and headed on back home. We got back to the "Barn" and Bill was there. He had gotten me my times. Carol came in and her and Dohn ran 13-2 out to Patton's to get two new front tires on. While they were gone I did my tripsheet from last nights call and the tripsheet from this call. They got back and we looked at the Hare Traction Splints and determined that we had 4 pediatric splints. After that I updated the closet inventory and then left for home. Bill left before me and I left behind Dohn in 13-1. I ran up to Sheetz and got gas and then headed home. Once at home I turned the air on, made lunch and got on the PS2. I had finished eating lunch and was playing on the PS2 when around 13:30 hours the pager went off for a laceration in Reed Township. I got in my car and headed to Dohn's house. I got there followed by Bill and we got in 13-1 and off we went. We got there and it was a 14 year old girl that had accidently put her right arm through a window. We wrapped it up and took her down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on home. Dohn dropped me and Bill of at his house to pick up our cars and then I headed back into the station to log my time in. After doing that I headed on home. Once home I got back on the PS2 and ate dinner while I played. I got off arond 19:00 hours to watch "Trauma, Life in the ER". My father went in to sign the contract with Keystone regarding the new ambulance. I left here around 20:30 hours to go get my hair cut. After I was done there, I ran up to Gaint and picked up some Bendryal for my mother. I headed on home and took a shower. I just finished eating a snack. Do you need me

Around 22:30 hours last night the pager went off for a call on Ronnie Lane in Jackson Township, for breathing problems. I was originally going to go to the scene to stabilaze until my father and Kim got there. Kim must have heard me say that and asked me if I just wanted to take. I told him that it was up to him and he said that I could go ahead and take it. So I finished getting dressed and headed on up a street from my house. I got there and then my father showed up about 3 minutes later. We got her loaded up and then Medic 6 showed up and we took her on down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on home. We dropped the medic off at Sheetz and then went back to the "Barn". I logged my times in and then my father took me up to get my car and then on home. I went to bed around 02:00 hours and got up this morning around 10:30 hours. I got changed, ate lunch and read the paper. I then headed into town. I dropped the games off at Blockbuster and then headed to the station to do my tripsheet from last nights call. I did my tripsheet and then helped with the banquet in there. I left there around 14:20 hours and headed back up to Giant and picked up a few things and then headed on home. Once I got home I turned the air on and then got on the PS2. I got off of there around 19:00 hours and watched "Trauma, Life in the ER". I got on the computer around 20:00 hours and about 15 minutes later the pager went off for a misscarriage in Halifax Township. I got into my car and headed for the station. I met up with Carol there and off we went. We got there and cancelled the medic and took her down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there we headed on home. We got back to the shed and I logged my times in and then headed on home. Getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on for a little bit longer and then I am going to hit the sack. I had just parked 13-2 when the pager went off for breathing problems in Upper Paxton Township, at SLV. I pulled 13-1 out and then put them responding when Dohn and Carol showed up. I then locked 13-2 up and swept out the bays. I then went back and typed my minutes up for my two meetings from last night. I satyed for a little bit and then decided to head on home. I got home, took a shower and then made lunch and got on the PS2. I played on the PS2 until about 19:00 hours when I got off to watch "Trauma, Life in the ER." We got there and parked the uint, I took my mother's fudge in and set it on the table with the rest of the cakes. I then went and talked to Robbin and she said that they did not have a lot 0f help there tonight. So I offered to run the kidde cars again tonight, but told her that if we got a call, I had to go. It was a quiet night with no calls. I ran the tractor all night and munched on food. I played $8.00 on the cake wheel and won nothing. I put about 2 miles on the tractor tonight alone. We wrapped up around 22:30 hours again tonight. I put the cars away in the old station and then parked the tractor in the station. We left there and took Sue back in to the shed so she could get her car. We went around back of the building and right around the area of the officer there was a frog sitting again. I said, hey Sue there is your little friend again. After we dropped her off we headed on home. I took a shower and am getting ready to check my email, then I am going to hit the sack.

A head on collison

Went to bed last night around 02:00 hours and got up this morning around 08:00 hours to move my car so my mother could go to a doctor's appointment. I moved my car and came back in an laid down in bed to go back to sleep. I had just got in a comfortable position, when the pager went off for an accident with injuries in Halifax Township. I got out of bed and quickly got dressed and decided that I was going to go to the scene to help. I started in when Deb got on the radio and said that she was available to make up a second crew. So I now headed for the station. I pulled in and went inside and opened the bay doors for both units. As I was doing that Dohn and Carol pulled up and they got in 13-2 and off they went. Meanwhile I pulled 13-1 out and closed the door and got in as Deb pulled up and put us responding. Scott was on the scene, since it was right in front of his work place. It was a head on collison with one vehicle that had rolled over. When me and Deb got on the scene, Scott was there, along with Medic 6-2, Ambulance 13-2, and Engine 29-1. Ambulance 6-7 was in tow right behind us. Brush 29 then got on the scene, followed by Engine 20 for man power. We got our guy out and loaded up and took him down to Harrisburg Hospital. Dohn and Carol took there guy to Hershey with Medic 6 on board. After me and Deb got what we needed down at the hospital, we headed on back. We stopped and put diesel in the uint and then went back to the "Barn". I restocked the unit and got my times and started my tripsheet. 13-2 then showed up and the medic unloaded his stuff off of the unit and into his and took off. Bill then showed up to do his tripsheet from yesterday. I left there around 11:30 hours and headed on home. Once at home I changed shirts, grabbed something light to eat and read the paper quickly. I then grabbed the gas can from the shed and headed back on into town. I went to Sheetz and got gas in my car and gas for the lawn mower. After that I went down to Giant and picked up a few things and then went to Blockbuster and rented three more games. After that I headed on home and unloaded everything, got changed and got on the PS2 and ate lunch. I also ate dinner while I played and then got off around 17:45 hours. I got changed and headed up to the fire house to help set the rest of the stuff up for the carnival. I left there around 20:35 hours and headed on home. Once home I took a nice cool shower and then watched a little tv. Getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.

Ladder Training & EMS Committee

Went to bed last night around 01:45 hours and got up this morning around 09:00 hours. I ate breakfast, and read the comics. I then got changed and headed up the the fire house for monthly training. I got up there and Bubba, Dave, Holly, Kyle, and Lannie were all there. O brought my gear inside and I help get some of the carvinal stuff down and took it up to the fire hall. We then started training around 10:00 hours. The training for this month was ladder training. We started by taking the 24 foot extension ladder off of the tanker. Me and Kyle took it off and carried over to the shady side of the fire house and sat it down. We then went throught the procedure of setting up the ladder with two people. After it was set up, Bubba taught us how to tell if the ladder is at the right angle. We then praticed how to hold the ladder and who is responsible for holding the ladder and watching the person on the ladder. Dave then showed us how to do a leg lock on the ladder and then we each took a turn trying it. After that we praticed taking a pike pole and an axe up and down the ladder. Once that was done we praticed tying the excess rope off and then we praticed setting the ladder up by ourselves. After that was done, we took the flag pole out of it's base in front of the station and set it on some barrels so Bubba can paint it. We then messed around with the 10 foot attic ladder off of the tanker. After that was over I helped bring out some of the stands for the carnival, and then left there around 12:20 hours to head on home and get cleaned up. I got home, cleaned my face up and ate a quick sandwich. Me and my father left the house around 13:16 hours and headed on down to a picnic building behimd the Days Inn on Front Street. It was the annual conty executive committe re-organization meeting. I am now a member of the executive committee. I am also a member of the new formed County EMS Committee of the executive committee. I am the youngest member of the executive committee at age 20. I am also the youngest life member having become one at the age of 18. The meeting lasted for about one hour and then we had some food afterwards. We left there around 15:30 hours and headed on home. Once at home, the race had just started, so I watched the very beginning of it and then took a quick shower. I then watched the rest of the race. Dale Jr. won the race (ugh). Getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.

We did some shopping, and I bought a few things, and then I took the stuff back over to the car and came back. We then started looking at the apparatus and taking pictures. Bill was nice enough to let me use his digital camera to take pictures for himself and myself. After we were done looking at the apparatus, we got something to eat and drink. After that we waited for 13-2 to show up at Harrisburg from the call they were on. They showed upand we helped them with a few things. Bill, Dohn and Carol then came over and looked around at some of the apparatus for a few minutes before they headed on home, and we headed for the car. We then headed on home. Bubba had the tanker at his house so we stopped to talk to him. He told us that they had a shed fire around 15:00 hours today and that it was on the site where the house burned down the day of fire expo back in May. We then talked a little bit more and then we headed on home. Getting ready to hit the 0ld email and surf the net. The next week weill be a busy one for me. Power out again

Went to bed last night around 01:50 hours and was rocked out of bed around 04:00 hours this morning when the pager went off for an unconscious person in Halifax Borough. When I got out of bed my room was pitch black, so I went over to my father's bedroom and asked him what it was for and he told me that I might as well start getting dressed, as it was past 03:00 hours and Kim was now off duty. So I went back over to my room and grabbed a flashlight and started getting dressed. I then went out and got in my father's truck and off we went. Come to find out that our street was the only street where the power was out. We got into the station and got in 13-2 and off we went. The guy was unconscious on the floor of his upstairs bedroom. When we checked his pupils, his right pupil was blown. We called for the fire department for lifting assistance for getting him down the steps and into the ambulance. Abby was the medic again and we took the guy down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down at Harrisburg, we headed on home. It was still raining out around 06:30 hours when we dropped Abby off at Sheetz and then headed back to the "Barn". Once at the station I logged our times in, and then we headed on home. Once at home the power came back on after we were home for about 5 minutes. I then went back to bed and my father left for work. I got back up around 10:00 hours, got changed, ate breakfast, read the paper and watched a little tv. I then headed in to the station to do my tripseet from this morning. I pulled in right in front of Bill. He did his tripsheet and then I did mine, and then he showed me how to use his digital camera. Dohn then showed up and did his tripsheet from last night. We left the station around 15:30 hours. I got home and got on the PS2 and played until around 18:05 hours, then I got off and took a shower. Went to bed last night at 01:45 hours and around 08:30 hours this morning the pager went off for a sick person in Upper Paxton Township. After we got what we needed down there we headed on back. Once back at the statio, I logged my time in, out new batteries in the pulse ox and then started assembling the pressure washer. After I got it all put together and had the gas and oil I i started it up, boy did it run good, and then it shut off. I had forgotten to open the choke back up after the motor was running, so I flooded the engine. Then the pager went off for a fall person in Wayne Township. We got a hold of Dohn and told him to pick us up at the station again. Dohn went responding and picked us up and off we went again. My dad then showed up and the three of us talked for a little bit and then Susie showed up and we talked with her for a little bit, while we listened to the call that Medic 6 had in Gratz. They had a head on collison in front of Lisi's Shell. They transported 3 BLS to Hershey by ground, flew one to Hershey by Life Lion and had two Siginal 12's. After we heard the end of that, we headed on home. I just finished eating dinner and am getting ready to hit the old email and surf the web. Amanda Nornhold, College Bound!

I would like to start off tonights blog with a tribute to a very special friend of mine, Amanda Nornhold. Friend, Sis, Caring, Friendly, Devoted, Determined, Successful, Nice, and Funny are all words that come to my mind about Amanda. I have only known you for almost one year know, but it seems like a life time. I still remember the first time I met you. I believe if my memory serves me right, it was in November on a Saturday and your EMT class was at out station for a CPR class. I remember I was sitting at a table out in the bay looking at my Brady EMT book and you came out and saw all the cool pictures in it. Since that time I have watched you grow into a truely fine young women. You have been through quite a few things this past year. Some rough times with Andy, the death of one of your friends, Brandy West (God Bless her Soul), and all the troubles with a certain teacher. Yet, I have also watched you go through some happy times. The Semi- Formal, the Prom, Graduration, passing your HACC final practical, HACC final written, and State practical. Now as you wait for your results from your State written test, to see if you have joined a special group of people called EMT'S. You and your family have been so extremly kind to me since I first met your mother in the summer of 2004. You have opened your arms up to me and pulled me in as if I were one of your own. You treated me with respect and showered me with kindness, and I am so glad to be a part of it, because great frineds as yourselves are hard to come by in today's world. Now the stage has been set for you. You have college to go through and then Graduration from college. Your brother Steve, has a new child and now a new home, and your mother has some peace and quiet (sorry had to throw that in there). As we continue to get older as the years go by, I hope that you and your family stay in close contact with me as I don not want to lose touch with you guys. I finish this tribute with only one regret on my part. That regret is that I wish I had met you guys earlier in my life. Good luck, God Bless, and I would like to take the title of my class song and apply it to you, that good old Green Day song, "Good Ridence (Time of your Life).

Now moving on to my day. I went to bed last night around 02:40 hours and got up this morning around 10:45 hours. I read the paper and watched some tv. Around 12:00 hours the pager went off for a sick person in Upper Paxton Township. I was off today so I did not go on the call. I got up and grabbed the pager so I could listen to it and I made lunch and got on the PS2 and played for awhile. I pasued around 15:00 hours and took a shower and then got back on until around 19:00 hours when I got off to watch some more tv. Ate a snack and watched the end of the Boston Pops concert and fireworks. Getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.

Happy 4th of July

Went to bed Friday night around 02:20 hours and was rocked out of bed early in the morning for an allergice reaction in Wayne Township. Me and my father got out of bed and got dressed and got in 13-1 and off we went. We picked up Bill in the square of Fisherville and then continued onto the scene. Once on the scene we loaded the guy up and met the medic at the end of the long driveway. Abby and Scott were the medics on the MICU and Abby went down with us. It has been along time since I have seen Abby with Medic 6. I usually see her in the Er at Harrisburg Hospital. We took this guy down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on home. We dropped Abby of at Sheetz and then headed back to the "Barn". We logged our times in and did a few other things, and then ran Bill back out to his truck, and then went home. Once home I ate breakfast and read the paper. I then got on the PS2 and played until around 17:00 hours when I got off to go back into the shed. My father took the unit back into the shed and I followed him in my car. Carol then showed up and they transmitted for the month. Then around 18:00 hours, I went up to Sheetz and got gas and then went to Giant and picked up milk, iced tea, and salad, then headed on home. Once home, I took a shower and then ate dinner while I sat down to watch the race. It was raining down at Dayotna, so the race was delayed 2 1/2 hours and did not get started until 22:30 hours. The race lasted to 02:00 hours and Tony Stewart won the race. After the race was over, I went to bed and fell asleep right away.

I woke up this morning around 10:30 hours when my mother came in my room and woke me up. I got up and ate a light breakfast and read the paper. Around 12:00 hours I got dressed and put on the t-shirt that Amanda got me and helped my mother load her car up. We then headed on down to my grandparents house for a cook out and to celebrate my grandmothers birthday. My father came down in his truck because he had to leave early to come home since he is on call tonight. My brother grilled up hot dogs, hamburgers and hot sausages for us to eat, and my mother made some side food. After we were done eating we watched the video that my brother took during our vacation and then my grandmother opened up her gifts. After that, me, my mother, brother, and grandmother all played Upwords. We only paused to eat the ice cream cake and talk. My father left around 17:10 hours and we left around 19:20 hours to head on home. Once home, I unloaded the car and then got on the computer and started working on one of my articles for next tears convention book. Checking my email right now and surfing the net, Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.

Third time is a charm

Went to bed last night around 02:00 hours and got up this morning around 09:30 hours when my mother yelled for my father to pick up the phone. My father had off from work today to make a long weekend. Here it was Dauphin County on the phone for my father. Here a tractor trailer had flipped over on the Clarks Ferry bridge and had leaked about 150 gallons of diesel fule on the roadway. Sicne my father is the EMA for Reed Township, he got changed and rushed on down to the scene. I got changed and ate breakfast and watched a little tv. After I was done eating I started to read the paper. My mother went outside to put the car windows down. While she was outside the pager went off for a structure fire in Millersburg Borough. I got my boots on and got in my car and off I went for the station. I called Bill on the radio and told him that when he got at the station to start loading rehab supplies into 13-1. I had just turned into the station when they cancelled us. Apparently it was a false alarm and it was only smoke from a circuit breaker. Dohn showed up and we talked for a little bit while Bill started his tripsheet from last nights call. I then left and headed on home. Once home I sat down and had finished reading the front section of the paper when the pager went off again for a sick person in Upper Paxton Township. Medic 6 got on the scene before us and told us that they would handle. So we went available and back to the station we went. I stayed a bit longer this time as I was afraid to go home incase the pager would go off again. I left there around 12:00 hours and headed on home. This time I got to finish reading the paper. After I was done with that I made lunch and got on the PS2. Around 15:50 hours the pager went off for a CVA in Jackson Township. I paused my game and got in my car and headed for Carol's hosue. I met Bill there and we got in 13-1 and off we went. We passed my father in Fisherville as he was coming back from the garage. We got on the scene and Medic 6 released the Pt. to BLS and we took her down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there we headed on home. We stopped at the "Barn" as my father was there. I fixed two tripsheets and then talked with Bill for a little bit. Carol then took her van home and Bill did his tripsheet while my father and I ran up to Dollar General to look for a card that my mother wanted. We did not find it there, so we then went up to Sheetz and got dinner for ourselves. We then went back to the shed and picked Bill up and headed for Dohn's house to pick up our cars. I followed my father home in my car and parked it and headed inside to eat dinner. Getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.

Power Out!

Went to bed Tuesday night around 02:30 hours and was rocked out of bead around 09:30 hours for chest pains in Millersburg Borough. I got dressed and got in my car and headed for the station. I met up with Dohn and Bill there. I got in the back of 13-1 and off we went. We got up there and Medic 6 released the lady to us since they were not needed. We took her down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on home. We stopped at the "Barn" and I logged my times in and then headed on home. Once home I sat down and started to read the paper. I was almost done with the comics when the pager went off for a sick person in Halifax Township. I got back in my car and headed over to Dohn's house. Once there I met up with Dohn and Bill and off we went in 13-1. We got there and once again cancelled the medic. We took her down to Osteo Hospital. After we got what we needed down there we once again headed on home. Dohn stopped at McDonald's on Front Street so I could get something to eat for lunch. Boy will I never stop there again. First they only had one guy manning the register and there were eight people in line counting me. Second, they were all out of soda. HOW can you be all out of soda!?! So I finally got my meal and we headed back to the "Barn". I logged in my times and then Dohn ran us out to his house to pick up our cars. I came home and finished reading the paper. I watched the news and then "That 70's Show", then "Trauma, Life in the ER" and then "That 70's Show" again. Around 20:30 hours I came back and got on the computer to check my email, surf the net and work on an article. I did not get that far however. The pager went off for breathing problems in Reed Township. My dad and me got in 13-1 and off we went. We got there and twe loaded the guy up and Medic 6 showed up and off we went for Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there we headed on home. It started to rain as we were going around the mountain. After we dropped the medic off we started for the station. While we were still around the mountain the rain really picked up. I mean it was absoutley pouring down raining. Then as we came upon Aumiller's the pager went off for bleeding in Halifax Borough. We went responding right away. Medic 6 got on the scene since he was right in front of us. We ended up placing the medic in service again. This was the guy that my dad and Carol ahd taken down Tuesday night for the same reason. Like 3 minutes after the call came in, Susie called my cell phone and told me that the Borough was without power. We advised county of this. We took the guy back down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on home. My father told me that he had called my mother and that our power was out as well. So I called Sue on her cell phone and told her that her power may be out when she gets home. We talked for a little bit and then she had to go. The whole way home it kept raining and lighting. It was so weird. When you went by Long's Flower Shop, they had power, but the school right next to them was out of power. We stopped at the station and all the emergency lights were on. We logged our times in and then headed on home. We got home around 00:30 hours and the power was still out. I grabbed my pager and a flashlight and laid down on the chair in the living room as it cooler out there, then it was in my room. I guess after about maybe 40 minutes on the chair I could not lay on my back any longer, so I grabbed a pillow and laid down on the floor. At 01:50 hours the power came back on, along with the good old air and it really cooled the place down. I then went back to my bedroom and went to bed around 02:10 hours.

I got up around 10:00 hours this morning, got changed, then at breakfast, read the paper and watched tv. I left the house around 11:00 hours and headed into town. I went to Rite Aid and picked up a Phone Card and then went back to the "Barn" to do my tripsheet from last nights two calls. Bill was there and getting ready to start his two tripsheets from yesterday. While he did that I did some work on the other computer. Around 12:00 hours the pager went off for breathing problems in Millersburg Borough. I pulled the unit out and Bill got in the back and then Dohn showed up and off we went. We got up there and Medic 6 released the Pt. to BLS. We took her down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed we headed on home. We stopped at the "Barn" and I logged my time in and Bill finished his one tripsheet. I ran up to Giant and picked up some peanut butter and orange juice for my mother and then picked up lunch at McDonalds for myself. Then I headed back to the station and got on and did my two tripsheets. After that I grabbed my food from the fridge in the kitchen and me and Bill headed on out. Bill was coming up on Kiners when the pager went off to assist PSP with an accident in Halifax Township. We both pulled into Dohn's house and off we went. We got as far as the beer place when the fire company placed us in service. We went up to Shell and got deisel and then went back out to Dohn's house to pick up our cars. I headed on home and got changed and took a shower. I then watched the news and "Trauma, Life in the ER" and then "That 70's Show". Eating popcorn right now and getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.
