Ladder Training & EMS Committee
Went to bed last night around 01:45 hours and got up this morning around 09:00 hours. I ate breakfast, and read the comics. I then got changed and headed up the the fire house for monthly training. I got up there and Bubba, Dave, Holly, Kyle, and Lannie were all there. O brought my gear inside and I help get some of the carvinal stuff down and took it up to the fire hall. We then started training around 10:00 hours. The training for this month was ladder training. We started by taking the 24 foot extension ladder off of the tanker. Me and Kyle took it off and carried over to the shady side of the fire house and sat it down. We then went throught the procedure of setting up the ladder with two people. After it was set up, Bubba taught us how to tell if the ladder is at the right angle. We then praticed how to hold the ladder and who is responsible for holding the ladder and watching the person on the ladder. Dave then showed us how to do a leg lock on the ladder and then we each took a turn trying it. After that we praticed taking a pike pole and an axe up and down the ladder. Once that was done we praticed tying the excess rope off and then we praticed setting the ladder up by ourselves. After that was done, we took the flag pole out of it's base in front of the station and set it on some barrels so Bubba can paint it. We then messed around with the 10 foot attic ladder off of the tanker. After that was over I helped bring out some of the stands for the carnival, and then left there around 12:20 hours to head on home and get cleaned up. I got home, cleaned my face up and ate a quick sandwich. Me and my father left the house around 13:16 hours and headed on down to a picnic building behimd the Days Inn on Front Street. It was the annual conty executive committe re-organization meeting. I am now a member of the executive committee. I am also a member of the new formed County EMS Committee of the executive committee. I am the youngest member of the executive committee at age 20. I am also the youngest life member having become one at the age of 18. The meeting lasted for about one hour and then we had some food afterwards. We left there around 15:30 hours and headed on home. Once at home, the race had just started, so I watched the very beginning of it and then took a quick shower. I then watched the rest of the race. Dale Jr. won the race (ugh). Getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. Will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.
