Silo fall down and go BOOM!
Around 22:30 hours last night my dad told me to get dressed and because we had to go over to Wayne Township on Back Road, because there was a silo in danger of collapsing. I put my away message up and off we went (Sorry Sue). We got over there, and sure as shit if that silo was not leaning. There was really nothing we could do for it except let nature take its course. Me and my father then came home around 23:30 hours. My father went straught to bed and I watched "Will & Grace". I went back to my room at 24:00 hours and got back on the internet. Around 00:07 hours the pager went off for an accident with entrapment on McClellan Road. Me and my father quickly got dressed and got in 13-1 and off we went. We ended up beating Engine 29-1 to the scene by a few seconds. When we got there, the kid was pinned under the left rear tire, which was resting on his left leg. I told my dad to have county put the chopper in the air, and then went back to taking care of the kid. I ma pretty sure that Amanda knows the kid, (I will not mention his name on this blog, to protect his idenity). It took us, Medic 6 and the fire deaprtment about 30 minutes to get him out from under the car and loaded into the back of the ambulance with the fligt crew. We proceeded to the landing zone and transferred him over to the chopper and he took off. After that we went back to the scene to check that we got all the equipment and get some pictures. After that Alfe invited us back to the fire house for a debreifeing, which was a nice thing and should be done after every major accident such as this. While we were there, we cleaned up the back of the unit and then headed back to the station to restock in log our times. After we were done at the station we headed on home. Once home we found out that the power had flicked off for a second and then come back on. I finished up a few things and then went straight to bed.
I got up this morning around 10:00 hours and ate breakfast and read the paper. I then got changed and headed into town. I first got the mail as it had just come, and the blue bands came today. So on my way in, I stopped at Carols and dropped their tow bands off and talked with her about last night. I then headed into Rite Aid and dropped the camera from 13-1 off to be devloped. I then ran over to McDonald's and got lunch and then headed back to the "Barn" to do my paperwork from last night. Bill was there finishing up his tripsheet from Saturday. I then ate lunch and did mine. After that I ran back up to Rite Aid and picked up the pictures and went back to the station to show Bill. After I left there, I stopped at Dohn's to show them the pics, and then from there, headed on home. Once at home, I got on the PS2 and then my mother came home about 30 minutes later. I got off and helped her bring some things in and then we talked. My father then came home and then him and me went back over to the farm where the silo was in danger of collapsing. As we came over the top of the ridge, we could see right away that it had collapsed at some point. We found out that it collapased at 10:30 hours this morning. My father took pictures and then we headed on home. Once home I got changed and took a nice cool shower. After that I ate dinner while I watched "Trauma, Life in the ER" and then "Impact, Stories of Survival" I am getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. I will be on late tonight so give a buzz if you want to talk.
