Busy 48 Hour Shift at Medic 6
Went to bed Thursday night around 01:30 hours and got up at 07:00 hours when my alarm went off. I got out of bed and got dressed and then got my suitcase together and then got my lunch's and breakfast's together. I then left the house at 07:30 hours and headed up to Eville. I got there and saw that 6-3 was not in the bay, so I knew that Zach and Ron were already out on a call. Tim was already there and doing his med checks. I quickly checked the schedule and I saw that they had moved my nighttime shift down to Eville for Friday night, so I was doing my full 48 hour shift at the Eville Station. I then went back out to the car and grabbed my lunch box and my suitcase and brought them both back in. I then decided to pu0ll 6-7 around front for me and Tim to use until 6-3 got back. I then did a quick rig check on 6-7 to make sure we had the bare essentials on the truck. I then went in and checked a few other things on the schedule. Zach then came back with 6-3 since Ron had gone with 62 to the hospital. I the put 6-7 back in the stall out back and then did my rig check on 6-3. I then went back inside and got on the computer to check a few things off my own and then went out to the day room and watched some TV. Tim then said about going over to the Gratz market to get some ingridents for dinner. So we ran over there and came back. Once back I decided to wash 6-3 since we would be taking that down to 29's open house on Saturday. I went ahead and washed the unit and then backed it in. 10 minutes after I had backed the unit in, the tones went off for breathing problems in Millersburg Borough. Me and Tim got in 6-3 and we took off with me driving. We got there and he ended up going down with 20 to the hospital. I then headed on down to Halifax to wait for him. I stopped at the "Barn" and picked up my check and then decided to see if Sue was home. I drove by her house and she was not home so I decided to go to Community Banks and cash my check from 13 and then I went to Sheetz and sat there and waited for Tim to get back. While I was sitting there the tones went off for a Diabetic Problem at Wal-Mart. Carl and Tindel took that call and it ended up being a refusal. The tones then went off again for an accident with injuries in Mifflin Township. Carl and Tindel again took that call and again it ended up begin a refusal. Tim finally made it back and then we headed back up to Eville. I told him that I had to swing by my house real quick to drop off my money. So I stopped at the house and ran my money back to my bedroom, said a few quick words to my parents and then got back in 6-3 and went back up to the station. We got there and Tim started cooking the bar-b-que and then we both got on the computer to do a few things. We then ate and then I called up to Lykens to see why they did not come down to eat. I talked to Carl and I said to him that it had been a quiet day. I now know not to say the "Q" word when I am working at Medic 6. Needless to say that night was not the greatest. I believe it was around 00:30 hours the tones went off for a call in Lykens Township that he Lykens crew took. Then around 01:00 hours, the tones went off for a fall victim in Washington Township at Wal-Mart. I got up and got my boots on and then got my stuff back on my belt and then me and Tim got in 6-3 and off we went. We got there and got the guy on a backboard and then I drove down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed, we headed on back. I forgot to mention that shortly before we got our call to Wal-Mart the Lykens crew got another call that they went to to the hospital with. Once back at the station, I laid back down on the couch to try and get some more sleep. I forget what time it was, but the tones went off again for a call in Lykens Township. The Lykens crew took that call and I went back to sleep. The tones then went off again around 06:30 hours for a sick person in Millersburg Borough at the Polk Apartments. They were calling for either 20, 12, or us. Tim came out and woke me up and I told him that 13 would be getting out as I knew they had a crew. However I got up and got my boots on and then I heard Sue go responding. I then took my boots off and laid back down on the couch to get some sleep. About 10 minutes later, the tones went off for the Polk call, as it was now upgraded to chest pains. I got back up and got my boots on and then me and Tim got in 6-3 and took off. We got there and Tim ended up releasing her to BLS and Sue and Dohn took her down to the hospital and then we headed on back to the station. Steppler, Don and Jim were there when we got back. Steppler finished his med checks and Don pulled 6-7 around front since the Lykens crew was out on yet another call. Jim then went with Don and we took both units down to Special Place to eat breakfast. We then headed back to the station and then Jim and Don headed on up to Lykens since Carl and Tindel had gotten back. We then did station duties around the station. I emptied the trash and swept the carpet, while Steppler washed the bays out. We were just talking about getting ready to leave to head on down to 29's station for the open house when the tones went off for breathing problems in Millersburg Borough at Polk Assisted Living. I ran him down there and he got on 20's unit and went down to Harrisburg Hospital. I then ran back to the station to pick something up for Steppler and the Lykens truck was sitting there. I grabbed what Steppler wanted and then asked Don if they were heading back up to Lykens and he said no that they were getting ready to head on down to Halifax. I then left and headed on down there and once there I backed into the one bay. I was hungry, so I headed on in and got a hot dog and something to drink. I then talked to Amanda and Sue and a few other people. I was then in the meeting room talking to Tom when the pager went off for an accident with injuries in Washington Township. Jim and Dohn left in a hurry as the accident involved ejection. They ended up flying the lady out. Stepplper then got back and we decided to head back up to Eville since Jim was on the accident. We said out goodbyes and then headed back up to Eville. We got there and the Lykens crew was restocking and then they left. Steppler then took a nap and I did a few things on the computer. The tones then went off for a pregancy in Lykens Borough and the Lykens crew took that call. Steppler then started showing me the pictures of his patch collection. The tones then went off for abdominal pains in Upper Paxton Township at SLV. We went responding and we ended up handling the call. I teched in the back and we took the guy down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed, we headed on back to the station. We stopped at Sheetz so we could both get something to eat. We then went back to the station. Once back at the station, I did my chart and then decided to lay down on the couch and watch the movie that Steppler had on. I took my boots off around 23:00 hours. Around 23:20 hours the pager went off for a fall victim in Elizabethville Borough. I got my boot on and got in the unit and we went to the scene. We got the lady loaded up and took her down to Harrisburg Hospital. While we were on our way down, the Lykens Crew took a call in Halifax for a diabetic problem, that ended up being a refusal. Once back at the station, I laid down on the couch to get some sleep. We got to sleep for a little bit and then the tones went off for a call in Northumberland County. We got up and went responding and then looked at the map and then we started on our way. After we finished chasing 62 around Herndon, I dropped Steppler off and then headed back to 62's station to wait for him. They got back and we moved the gear over and then headed back to the station. Once back at the station, we both laid down to try and get some more sleep. About 30 minutes later the tones went off again, but we had no voice. We ran out to the unit and called Northumberland County and asked them if they had a call pending for us and they said no. We figured out that it was the tones letting us know that 62 had a call. So we went back to sleep. I then woke up at 07:30 hours when Steppler woke me up. I then took care of the trash and took my stuff out to my car. I clocked out and filled out my time card and then headed on home. Once at home I took a shower and then crashed in bed to get some sleep. I had my mother wake me up at 12:30 hours. I got out of bed, changed into street clothes and then headed up to the fire house for Boyd's Bear Bingo. I called the whole game, which I never have a problem doing. I then just stayed up there since we had Con-Ed Class tonight after bingo. After class I then went down to the station to help Robby and Bubba with putting Robby's lightbar on his truck. I then left there around 21:30 hours and headed on home. I am soon going to bed as I am tired.
