Eventful 36 Hour Shift

I went to bed Thursday night around 02:30 hours and got up Friday morning at 07:10 hours when my alarm went off. I got out of bed and got dressed and then got my lunch, Essentials books, and my Gatorade's together and then left around 07:25 hours and headed up to Eville to go to work. I passed 6-3 at the Faust Farm, it was heading towards Halifax. I got there and parked and clocked in and then checked I-Net to see if Eville had a call. I saw that 6-3 went to the hospital with 13 on a call, so most likely, Zach was on his way down to pick up Ron. I then checked the schedule and I heard Wendy come in and we were talking when I heard Jim come in. I talked to Steve when he came in and then once Zach and Ron got back, I did a rig check on the unit. Jim then wanted to go eat breakfast. I had already had a Honey Bun and some OJ for breakfast. He said that he wanted to go to Gunder's for breakfast, so we headed over that way. After we had breakfast, we went back to the station. Once back at the station, I got on the computer to check a few things out while Jim did something. The tones then went off for a call in Wiconisco that Tindel and Matt handled. I then ate lunch and then Steve had me help him go through the supplies to see what we needed to reorder. The Lykens crew then went available and shortly afterwards, the tones dropped for breathing problems in Wiconisco, that once again Tindel and Matt handled. Steve then told me to come with him as he wanted to get 6-6 started and moved around front so we could take the "M" Cylinder out of it before Spittler came to pick it up. We decided to drive it around some to try and get it running more smoothly. While we were out driving around, the tones went off for abdominal pains in Wayne Township. Steve tool me back to the station and Jim was already pulling 6-3 out of the bay. I got in and off we went. We got there and the lady was a real bitch. I walked in and asked her how she was feeling and she said "Don't talk to me." I told her that I had to talk to her to find out what was wrong and she said that she had abdominal pains and that she wanted to leave for the hospital now. So we walked her out an helped her onto the stretcher and then put her in the back of the ambulance and we headed on down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, I drove back to the station. We got back there and the Lykens crew was there. After I dropped the stuff off from the call and then we decided to go over to the Gratz Auction to get dinner. We got over there and Jim looked around outside and then we went inside and met up with Tindel and Matt and they had fish sandwichs and I had a small french fry. I then got a large Sprite and a slice of pizza. We then headed back to the station. Once there I did my chart from the abdominal pains call and then checked a few other things online. I then went out into the day room and sat down and Steppler pulled in and came inside. Around 19:45 the tones went off for a stroke in Upper Paxton Township. Steppler told Jim that he would take it and said he had to go grab his stuff out of his car before we went responding. Meanwhile I got my jacket on and then went out to the truck to look up the street to make sure I knew where I was going. I then got in the truck and Steppler got in and off we went. We got there and 20-2 was there and we went inside the house. Lanny gave a big run down and then cancelled Steppler. We went available and went back to the station. Once there, Steppler pulled the gear out of the Squad and put it in the Med Room and started doing some med checkes when the tones went off for an Unconscious Person in Williams Township, which meant that the Lykens crew was going to handle the call. Shortly after 24-2 went responding, I heard County tell them that it was now a cardiac arrest. I told Steppler this and he said to hold on until 6-5 went responding to confirm it. When 6-5 went responding, County told them a cardiac arrest. Steppler said that we would head up that way to assist. We ended up getting to the scene and beaching the truck behind 6-5 and went up to 24-2 and got in to help. I first got in the side and then Steve, who was also there helping, told me to get in the back and to start getting meds out of the med bag for him to put in the IV. I was really going to town, flipping the caps for like Johnny Gage from Emergency. It ended up not doing a whole lot as he did not make it. We then took one of 24's members back to their station since someone had taken her truck back there and then we headed on back down to Eville. Once back there I checked my email real quick and then laid down on the couch around 00:30 hours. Around I believe it was 05:20 hours the tones went off for seizures in Upper Paxton Township at SLV. I got up and got my boots on and then got my stuff on my belt and then me and Steppler headed out to 6-3 and got in and took off. We got there and they were brining the lady out and Steppler road along. I then went up to Sheetz and parked and went inside and grabbed a Chocolate Milk to drink and then went back out to the unit and slept until 20-2 got back with Steppler and then we headed back to the station. We got back around 07:30 hours so I decided to just stay up. Once back, we emptied the trash cans and then I ate my breakfast that I had packed. Don Deppen then showed up for his 24 hour shift. Tindel then called and told me to stay in Lykens. Yeager had called off on Friday due to a medical problem. Fortney was to be the medic, but called off sick at 06:00 hours in the morning, so there was going to be nobody in Lykens for the day shift. 20 then got hit for an accident and Steppler was already on his way up to meet Tindel to get the Sup cell phone. He went responding and they ended up needing another BLS unit, so Steppler had them dispatch us to the scene. Me and Don got in 6-3 and took off. We got there and talked to our patient and then got her on a backboard and then I drove and we took her down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed, we headed on back. While on the way back, Jim called Don's cell phone and talked to him. When we got back, I was to head up to Lykens, since Jim took it upon himself to come in as the medic. Well once we got back, I talked to Steppler for a few minutes and then Williamstown got hit for a call with bleeding that was a class 1 call and county called for an ALS unit out of Schuylkill County. Steppler told me to start heading up to Lykens while he called County to let them know that we now had a medic in Lykens. I made it ti Loyalton and I called Jim and told him where I was at and he told me that he was just going to take 6-5 and respond as a medic, which he did. I got up to Lykens and parked and then went inside and got on the computer to check a few things. Jason then came in around 11:30 hours to get ready for the little tigers game in Wiconisco. I ate lunch and watched the first half of the Penn State game. We then headed over to the game. I was with Jason until Jim went available and came and picked me up and then went back to the Lykens station. We were there for the rest of the day and I watched the rest of the Penn State game and we won, beating Prudue. Jim then said he was leaving around 18:00 hours. As he was clocked out at 18:15 hours, the tones went off for breathign problems in Wiconisco Township. Jim tossed the phone to me and told me to call Steppler and tell him that he had just clocked out, which I did. He then took the ALS gear off of the truck and I told Jim that I was heading to the scene in 6-5 as a QRS. I got there and it ended up being a refusal. Once we cleared the scene, I took 6-5 back and parked it at Lykens, called Jo-Jo's and ordered a sub and then headed on down through to Eville. I picked up my sub and then went to Eville to finish out my shift. I clocked out at 20:09 hours and left and headed for home. Once at home I took a shower and am soon going to bed as I am tired.
