A Worker in Eville Borough

I went to bed last night around 02:00 hours and was rocked out of bed at 03:36 hours when the fire pager went off for the Tanker to assist Company 21 on a working structure fire. I sat up in bed and looked at the clock and knew I was probablly not going to get back in time to be up in Lykens by 06:00 hours. I looked over into my parents room and saw my father getting dressed. He stuck his head in my room and asked me if I was going to go and catch the Tanker or not and I told him I had to be at Lykens by 06:00 hours for Shultz so he could leave early for his paramedic test. So he oleft and headed up to the fire house and made the Tanker with Dave driving. I went back to bed, but could not get back to sleep as I laid in bed and listened to the pager and what was going on. LeeAnn then started texting me and I found out that they had a crew at the station for the Engine incase it was needed. I told her that I would not be up as I had to be in at work early this morning. I eventually got back to bed and woke up at 05:10 hours when my alarm went off. I got out of bed and got dressed and got my lunch and Gatorade bottles together. I then said goodbye to my mother and then got in my car and stated heading towards Lykens to go to work. I got to the square in Eville and I saw that Jean was helping to direct traffic around the scene and I talked to her for about a minute before I contiuned on my way up to Lykens. I got there and parked and went inside and put my lunch and Gatorade in the fridge and then clocked in. Shutlz and Tindel were sleeping on the couchs, so I got on the computer to check centralpafire to see if anyone had anything up on the fire, which they did. Shutlz then got up and clocked out and said he was going to hang around until the truck got back from the call. He then got on the fire company computer and was checking a few things and then he went back over to the couch and laid back down. Shutlz then got back up around 07:30 hours and I went out and did a rig check on 6-7. When I came back in, Tindel was up and Steppler was there. Shultz had already left and walked on home. Tindel, Steppler and myself talked for a little bit and then Tindell left. I then ate my breakfast and Steppler did his gear check, and then we left and headed on down to the Eville station. We were there long enough for Steppler to give Jim the sup. phone and to grab a second set of ALS gear to take up to Lykens since there was only one set up there, and then we left. We stopped at McDonald's and both got something to eat for breakfast and then headed back up to the Lykens Station. Once back there, Steppler started working on his charts and I laid down on the couch to get a little more sleep. I woke up around 11:00 hours I believe it was and Steppler had turned the TV on to watch while he was still working on his charts. I then ate lunch around 13:00 hours. Then around I guess it was 13:45 hours the tones went off for breathing problems in Washington Township. Me and Steppler pulled the map out to see if it was our call or the Eville crews call. Jim ended up calling up and asking if we were going to take the call and I told him we were trying to figure out who's call it was and he said that it was ours. I asked him if he was sure and then he got pissy with me and told me to just take the call and then hung up on me. So I went out and put us responding and then we looked up the street in the map book and then off we went. We got there and did and assessment of the guy and then got him loaded into the back of 6-7 and then Steppler put him on the monitor to take a look at his heart and he decided to ride it in ALS due to his history. So off we went to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on back. While on the way back, the tones went off for the lady on Deitrich Road and I started laughing my ass off because Jim had to go to her. Naturally he got a refusal on her because he kicked it off to BLS as they cancelled him before he got to the scene. We stopped at Sheetz and both got something to eat for dinner and then headed on back up to the Lykens Station. I stopped at the Shell in Lykens and got fuel and then went back to the station. Once back there, I ate dinner and once Steppler was done eating dinner, he got back to work on his charts. He had 7 charts to do, and he had 4 from the last time he worked and that was when he got knocked out on 20's bus. Steppler asked Tim to come in an hour early so that he could get his charts done tonight because Steppler wanted to be out of the area before the bad weather moved in. Deppen then came in and gave me my popcorn and then the 4 of us talked for awhile. I clocked out at 20:09 hours and we talked some more and I finally left Lykens around 20:15 hours and headed on down to the Eville station. Once there I picked up my check and fruit money, filled out my time sheet and printed out a copy of the times from the structure fire earlier in the day and then I left and headed on home. Once at home I got things inside and then took a shower. I was out talking to my mother and telling her how my day had gone, when I heard the EMS pager go off for an accident witn injures in South River Road. I called Scott and told him that I was around if we needed the second unit and he told me to call Kathy, which I did and I told her I would head in awhile. So I got dressed and then went outside and it was sleeting out. I got in my car and started it up and then quickly cleaned off the windshield and then left and headed into the "Barn". I slid through all 3 stop signs in my devlopment, and I was only going 10 MPH. I told Scott that I was on my way in and that I would grab the second unit since Dohn had already past the shed and was heading to the scene in his POV. So I got to the station and parked and went inside and got in 13-2 and went responding. I got out there and it happened right in front of Station 29, so 37 who was covering for 29 since tonight was there Christmas party, did not have to go far to get to the scene. I got there and parked behind 13-1. I got out and I saw Sue standing behind the one PSP car talking to Kevin Cole from our Essentials class. I went over and talked to her and she told me that I guess me and Dohn were taking the guy in the back of the cruiser. I asked her how the party went and she said good. I asked her if Amanda was still out there and she said no, that everyone started leaving when they saw the roads were starting to get bad. Well we ended up putting the two guys from the car that got rear-ended in 13-1 and Scott, Carol and Dohn took them down to Harrisburg Hospital, and I went available and back to the shed, parked the bus, logged my time in and then left and headed on home. Once at home I got back on the computer and am soon going to go to bed as I am tired.
