Busy Night at Medic 6 and Two Fire Calls During the Day

I went to bed Saturday night around 02:00 hours and got up at 07:10 hours when my alarm went off. I got out of bed and got dressed and then grabbed my suitcase and my jacket and hat and took them out to the kitchen. I then got my lunch and Gatorade Bottle together. I then loaded them in the car and left the house around 07:25 hours and headed on up to Lykens to go to work. I got there and parked and went inside. Since they had no Medic in Lykens last night, the EMT went down to Eville to make a BLS truck. I clocked in and then ate breakfast. I then did a rig check on 6-3. Jim then got there and he set up his laptop and got on that right away. I checked a few things on the computer. Nancy then came in to clean the station. After about 20 minutes, the cleaning products that she was using were starting to get to Jim and he said about heading down to Eville. So we got in 6-3 and headed on down to Eville. Once down there, I got a new "D" tank as I had switched the one in the BLS bag out with one of the spares in the closet in Lykens. I then got the supplies I needed to take up to Lykens to put in the closets and I also looked to see if I needed to order any supplies. After we were there for about 20 minutes, we headed on back up through. Jim had me stop at Koppy's so he could grab something to drink and then we headed back to Lykens. Once there I ran out to my car real quick and then put the supplies away. I then went out to decon the back of 6-3 and Jim came out to actually do some work and he cleaned the cab of the truck. I then hosed the unit down while he got back on his laptop. Once I was done I got back on the computer to check a few things. Then around 11:30 hours the tones went off for chest pains in Jefferson Township. Me and Jim figured out that it was out call and we got in 6-3 and off we went. We got there and once we got the guy loaded up I drove down to Osteo Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on back. I stopped at Arby's so Jim could get something to eat and then we headed on back. We stopped at Eville so Jim could restock and while we were there I hosed the unit down again. We then left and headed back to Lykens. Once there I sat down to watch the race on the TV. I got to watch the whole race and Ryan Newman won the race. I ate my lunch while I watched the race. AFter the race was over, I switched on Discovery Channel. Wertz then came in around 19:45 hours and then Jim clocked out and left. Wertz then asked me if I had eaten dinner and I said I had a late lunch. He then ordered a pizza and while he was doing his rig checks, I ran down to Chao's and got the pizza. Once I got back we ate while we watched TV. I was actually tired that nigth and turned the TV off around 23:10 hours and laid down on the couch to go to sleep. I woke up at 23:58 hours when the tones went off for breathing problems in Jackson Township. Tim and Bruce had gone on a call up in Northumberland County and he was on his way up to Geisiner, so we knew we would be taking the call. I got the stuff back on my belt and got my boots on and got in 6-3 and off we went. We got down there and Alf an Amanda were already there. I pulled in beside 13-1 so Wertz could just load his gear right into their bus. Alf then came out to get the stretcher and he asked me if I would help him and I said not a problem. So I helped take the stretcher inside and once we got her on the stretcher, I helped take it back out and loaded it into the back of 13-1 and then off they went to Harrisburg Hospital. I then stopped at the "Barn" and hosed off the unit once again, especailly since the driverway was nothing but mud. I then went up to Sheetz and waited for them to get back. Once they got back, I helped move his gear over and then we headed on back up through. I stopped at Koppy's so Wertz could get something to drink and then we headed back to the Lykens station. After I helepd Wertz restock, I went back to sleep around 02:30 hours. I woke up again around 05:58 hours when the tones went off for heart problems in Schulykill County, Hubley Township. I got the stuff back on my belt and got my boots on and then we got in 6-3 and off we went. We got up there and Heigins was already there and I helped Wertz load his gear into their ambulance and then I followed them up to Good Sam Pottsville. Once up there I moved his gear back over and then once he got what he needed, we headed on back. On the way back, we heard the tones go off for chest pains in Lykens Borough at the doctor's office. We heard Steve talking in the squad and then 24-1 came down as the BLS. We stopped at Tower Mini Mart in Tower City so Wertz could grab something to drink and eat for breakfast. We then got back to the Lykens Station. I went inside and put my pillow back in my suitcase and then got my lunch box and Gatorade bottles together. I then clocked out and headed on down to the Eville Station. I stopped at Shell and got gas and then continued to the Eville Station. I got there and put my time on my time card and Kathy gave me a Williamstown EMS patch that I asked her to get me and then I left and headed on home. Once at home I put my stuff away and had taken my t-shirt off and was in the living room talking to my mother when I heard the fire pager go off for Smoke in a Structure in Halifax Borough. I quick slipped out of my BDU's and slipped on a pair of jeans and grabbed a t-shirt and got my shoes on. I then ran out to the kitchen and grabbed my keys while my father was getting his bunker pants on. I got in my car and headed up to the fire house. I got there and pulled in right after LeeAnn did. I got out and ran inside and got my gear on. I then went over to the Engine and I layed my helment and jacket on the hood of the Utility. I grabbed my glass case out of my jacket and put my glasses and hearing aid in there and then put my hood on and then my jacket. I then got in the officers seat and put my glass case on the dash. I put my tag on the ring up front and then started getting my pack on. My father had come in by that point and had put his hood on. Bubba then got in and said we had to save two seats on the Engine for Dave and Jason. I told him that my father was hear also and he said about someone taking the Utility. He then told my father to take the Utility as I already was getting the pack on. We then pulled out and Jason Schoffstall pulled in. Bubba then called Dave and said that we had Jason's gear and that he was going to go responding and pick them up at the Victor House. By this time Alf had figured out that it was a furance malfunction and let Tom know, and then Tom held it to his company and placed us in service. My father then backed the Utility in and Bubba backed the Engine in. I then got my gear off and LeeAnn filled out a report for this call. We then all sat around and shot ths shit. Andy then showed up, followed by Lonny, Lyle, Robby, an then Troy. Everyone slowly started leaving and then I left around 11:00 hours and headed on home. Once at home I changed into my pj's and went back to bed to get some sleep. I got up at 17:00 hours when my mother came in and told me that my dinner was ready. I got out of bed and changed into street clothes and then ate dinner while I did a few things on the computer. I then left the house around 18:15 hours and headed up to the fire house for the meeting tonight. I got up there and Bill, LeeAnn, Jason and Katina were already there. I went into the hall and they were in the kitchen playing cards. The meeting went good, and quite a few things were discussed. We then all headed down to the fire house while the Fire Police had there meeting. LeeAnn was looking for a tarp to cover the pile of wood down in the front lot that we were going to use for the soup sale this Saturday. She found one and me and Lyle went down to help her. We put the tarp on and used a few pieces of wood to hold the tarp in place. We had just finished when our pagers went off, followed by the house siren. As soon as our pagers went off, I took off running for the fire house. I ran inside and got my gear on. Troy came running over to get his gear on and I asked him what it was and he said a Structure Fire. I asked him where and he said Powells Valley Road. I got my pants on and grabbed my jacket and helmet and ran over to the Engine. I got there and put my helmet and jacket on the hood of the Utility and got my glass case out and put my glasses and heading aid in it and then threw it on the dash of the Engine. I then put my hood on and got my jacket on. LeeAnn had already gotten in the back seat on the left side and Troy was in the middle was Dave was going to ride officers seat and Lonny was going to drive. Dave had thought Lonny was still here and when it turned out that he was not, he moved Troy up to the officers seat and then I got in on the right side. Dave put us responding and asked if the Tanker was due and they said no. Bubba and Lyle had stayed back with the Tanker incase they needed it. The three of us packed up on our way in. We got there and they had gotten a good knock on the fire. Dave stopped and we got out and grabbed tools off the Engine. I grabbed the Multi-Purpose Hook, Troy grabbed the Dry Wall Hook and LeeAnn grabbed the 10 foot pike pole out of the back and then we went to the front of Engine 29-1. All of 29's guys were playing with the hose lines and ripping shit apart and we stood there. Amanda and Scott then showed up and took the guy that had the Smoke Inhalation and checked him out and he refused treatment and transport. Jason and Ray then showed up, followed by Jason F. Jason F. was in a pack and we stood there for another 10 minutes and then Jason finally told us to take our masks off as 29's guys were doing so. Dave Warfel then sent me and Troy inside to start stirring up the hay while he hosed it down. Charile then told me about a hot spot on the one wall and I used the hook to knock it out and then Dave wet it down. We then came out and 29's junior's helped take our packs off and then Tom told LeeAnn and Troy to get on the hose line and start wetting down the inside of the goat pen. I then swapped out with Troy so he could take his pack off. After we were done wetting it down, we took our packs and tools back to the Engine. Bubba and Lyle had shown up by know with the Tanker and were suppling Tanker 29. My father was there also and he said that he drove the Utility. We then went back up with flat shovels to help move the dead bodies of the goats out of the pen for the owner. We then helepd push the pen in on itself and then the guys and gals from 29 wet it down. We then hosed down the shovels and our boots and then headed back to the Engine and then we were released. We ran up to Shell and got fuel and I grabbed something to drink and then we headed back to the station. The Utility was already back there and before we backed in, we pulled the tools off to hose them down. Once we were done we put them back on and Dave backed the Engine in. My father Ray, and LeeAnn then grabbed the mask to start cleaning them. I then got out of my bunker gear and by that time the Tanker was back. We then all shot the shit and slowly people started to leave. Myself, Bubba and LeeAnn left around 23:05 hours and I headed on home. Once at home I took a shower and then talked to my mother and am soon going to bed as I am tired.
