Excitment for the Day
I went to bed Saturday night around 01:00 hours and got up at 07:10 hours when my alarm went off. I got out of bed and got dressed and then grabbed my jacket and my suitcase and took them out to the kitchen. I then packed my lunch and grabbed my Gatorade bottles and then put everything in the car and left here at 07:25 hours and headed on up to Eville to go to work. I got there and parked and went inside. Stutzman was already there and I only saw Kuntzs vehicle. I went inside and put my stuff in the fridge and then clocked in. I then did a rig check on 6-8 and then filled out the paperwork on the computer. I then started to get dates on meds and over things in the Med Room when around 09:50 hours the tones went off for chest pains in Jefferson Township. I put the stuff away and went into the day room and asked Tim if that was ours and he said no that it was the Lykens crew's call. So I went back out into the Med Room and had just started up again when they redispatched it now as a cardiac arrest. I left everything in the Med Room and shut the door. I went in and asked Tim if he was going and he said yes. I asked him if he wanted us to go and he said that he didn't care. So I turned to Stutzman and told him to come on. We both pulled out and went responding and then 6-5 went responding. I followed Tim and 6-2. We took Mountain House Road back to Powell's Valley Road. When I turned onto Mountain House Road, I looked in the mirror and saw a state trooper turn onto Mountain House Road and follow us to the scene. We got there and 6-5, 6-2 and Engine 19-1 were there. We parked and went to the house and as we walked in they were putting stuff away as they had called a signal 12. We helped take stuff back out and then we headed back to the Eville station. Once back there I finished getting the dates in the Med Room and then got dates on some stuff in the BLS Room. Tim was washing the squad when I came out of the Med Room. After I finished in the BLS Room, I saw that Stutzman had gone out to the bays. I had said to him when I came in from the Med Room that when I was done I wanted to wash 6-8 since Tim was washing the squad. So I went out and helped them wash 6-8 and then we backed both rigs in. I went in and got on the computer to check a few things online. I then heard Tim open the bay door up and then heard it close. I went out and he was sweeping out the interior of his car. After I finished checking a few things online, I went out to the bay and moved 6-8 out and then pulled my car and and swept out the interior of that. After I was done we then ran up to Jo-Jo's for lunch. I got a Ham and Cheese Sub and a side order of Fries. I also got 4 slices of Cheese Pizza for later on in the evening for a snack. After we were done there, we stopped at Koppy's and I picked up a half gallon of Guers Orange Drink and then we headed back to the station. Once back me and Tim sat down and started watching the first episode of Season 3 of Emergency. We got half way through when the tones went off for Tim to go to Millersburg for a call. I popped the disc out and then turned the TV off and got on the computer again. I then got off and went back out to the day room and sat down on the couch. Stutzman could not find anythign good on so he gave me the remote and I turned on the race. I watched that, but I believe that I feel asleep halfway through. I woke up and wacthed the race until Tim got back. I then went out and helped him restock while Stutzman slept on the couch. Me and Tim were then standing out in the bay when I opened the oxygen compartment door on 6-8 and looked for the air compressor for the air horns. Earlier in the day the three of us had talked about the lack of air horns on 6-8. Tim then took a look at the motor and then took about two hours and tore it apart and put it back together and then put it back in the truck, and they worked. I was happy about that. While Tim was working on the motor, I went back in and watched the end of the race. I was happy that Jeff Burton finally won a race a Bristol. After that I went back out with Tim and then when we were done with that we went back in and finished the episode of Emergency. By that time it was around 19:20 hours and to late to start another episode, so I took the disc out and put it away and we watched TV. Then around 19:47 hours I heard tones dropped over the scanner and I said to myself that they sounded like 21's tones. So I cracked my fire pager open and heard them say Box 21-1 and then our tones went off for a vehicle fire in Washington Township. Me and Stutzman got up and went out into the bay and got in 6-8 and I put us responding. County came back and said that it was now and accident with injuries and fire. I told county to hit for my second truck and to start a unit from 20 up this way until we could cofirm if there was 4 patients or not. We went blowing through town and then 6-5 went responding and then 20-1 went responding. One the way their, Kuntz went on the scene and confirmed only two patients and someone cancelled 20-1. We ended up flying the driver out from the soocer field at the high school. We then went back to the station and deconded 6-3. They then left and me, Bowser and Stutzman were in the station when the tones went off for an unconscious person in Mifflin Township. Me and Bowser got in 6-8 and off we went. It ended up being a Menonite that was drunk and his older sister said she was going to take him home. SO we went available and headed on back to the station. Once at the station, I finally sat down and ate my 4 slices of cheese pizza while I watched TV. I laid down on the couch at 24:00 hours and I guess I fell asleep at some point. I woke up around 01:00 hours and Bowser was back in the ladies bunk room sleeping. I turned the TV off and then went back to sleep. Jim came in around 06:00 hours and woke both of us up as he thought he had to cover part of the overnight shift. Around 06:30 hours the tones went off for a sick person in Upper Paxton Township. Bowser asked Jim if he would mind and Jim said no. I then went back to sleep and woke up again at 07:30 hours. I got up and got the stuff back on my belt and then got my boots on and put my pillow away. I then went out to 6-8 and got my stuff out of there and then Jim got back. Bruce came in and then John came in and I clocked out at 08:04 hours and left and headed on home. Once at home I changed into my pj's and went back to bed to get some more sleep. I woke up this afternoon around 15:30 hours. I got out of bed and changed into my street clothes and then I read the paper. I then ate lunch while I watched MASH on TV and did a few things on the computer. I then left at 18:00 hours and headed up to the fire hall for the meeting tonight. I went over the prices for the potato's peeler with LeeAnn and Martha. The meeting went good. I found out that Bubba had axed the Engineer and Assistant Engineer positions and instead just appointed Troy in charge of the maintenace on the trucks and Lyle as his assistant. They also made me the EMS Supply Officer, which I had already know from talking to Bubba last night after the accident. Robby then talked to me after the meeting and explained what my duties were. Then myself, Bill, Dave, Troy and Robby shot the shit for awhile. Robby then left and then the rest of us left around 21:50 hours and I headed on home. Once at home I took a shower and am soon going to bed as I am tired.
