New Ambulance 6-4

I went to bed Tuesday night around 01:00 hours and got up Wednesday morning at 07:10 hours when my alarm went off. I got out of bed and got dressed. I then grabbed my camera and my suitcase and took them out to the kitchen. I then packed my lunch and then got my Gatorade bottles together. I then left the house around 07:25 hours and headed up to Eville to go to work. When I got there I saw that 6-3 was not in the bay. I parked and took my stuff inside and put my suitcase beside the couch and put my lunchbox and Gatorade bottles in the fridge. I then clocked in and took a look at the ALS and BLS supplies. Tim then came in and then O'Neal came in. I then ate breakfast while I checked a few things online. Steve then came in and said about the new unit coming today. Steve asked me to print out the paper that had a list of all the supplies we needed on the truck to get in licensed. I did that and then me and O'Neal went over the extrication bags. Brain and Tindell then got back and I did a quick rig check on 6-3 and then filled out the paperwork. Jim and the new guy then showed up. Me and O'Neal then left and ran up to McDonald's to get breakfast. While we were heading up there, the tones went off for bleeding in Upper Paxton Township. Tim took that call and they ended up going down to the hospital. After we got breakfast we headed back to the station to wait for the new unit to get there. When I got back I went out back and took a few pictures of 6-5 as Spittler was going to be taking it back with them. The new unit then showed up around 10:45 hours. It is a nice looking unit. It is a 2008 Ford F-450 chassis with a Horton body on it. The one thing I don't like is the lettering on the unit. The lettering on the cab doors is to plain jane in my opinion. The lettering on the driver's side of the unit is not centered height wise, and the white lettering on the red stripe is to small. I also don't like the red and white chevron on the back of the unit. The lights are nice, all LED. I am not to sold yet on not having a light bar on the front of the unit. We had the guy back it in the bay so we could take a look at it. It is nice in the back, has dual bench seats, all push button controls. We started to get the supplies back on it. O'Neal and John started woroking on getting the "M" cylinders and myself and the new guy started working on the backboard compartment. The tones then went off for a diabetic problem in Halifax Township. Jim and the new guy left in 6-5 and took that call. County then told them that 13 didn't have a crew and that they were to handle the call. Alf then went responding in 13-2 as a QRS. Jim then told county to dispatch his BLS truck, which was me and O'Neal. We got pissed off because we know this game that Jim was tried to play before. I talked to Steve and he said to head down class 3. We went the speed limit the whole way down to the scene. We got there and Jim ended up taking the call anyway and we helped them load the guy in 6-7. We then left and headed back to Eville. We got as far as the Grub House when 6-7 called us back for assistance. We turned around and went back class 1 to their location. I grabbed a set of gloves and opened the side door and Jim told me to get in and drive. I got in and we went down class 2 to Holy Spirit Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, we headed on back. When I got back they had out everything back on the truck. I took a look at it and was pleased with the outside compartments. I then looked inside and was not happy with the one cabinet. They put all the liens in the cabinet beside the captain's chair and then put all the bed pans and urinals ans that kind of stuff under the driver's side bench seat. I talked to Steve and he wanted me to go over everything a second time to make sure everything was there for licensure. I asked him if I could move some interior cabinets around and he said ok. He also told me that it was my truck and to take it and run with it. So I went out and went through everything and added a few things and moved the liens to the cabinet behind the captain's chair. I then moved everything from under the bench seat to the cabinet beside the captain's chair. While I was doing that, the tones went off for an overdose in Halifax Township. 13 now had a crew so me and O'Neal didnt have to go on this call. O'Neal then asked Steve if we could road test the new unit and he said sure that it was our truck now. So after I was done we took it out and O'Neal drove first. We took it up through Lykens and over through Wiconisco to see how it handled on rough roads. He then pulled over and we switched drivers. I took it back out to 209 by going the back way through Wiconisco. We then stopped at Wal-Mart so O'Neal could grab something to make for dinner. I then took the unit up Eville mountain to see how it would handle and then we went down Mountain House Road and came back up Quarry Road. We then went back to the station and I typed up what is in all the compartments and cabinets, while O'Neal made dinner. He then left at 20:00 hours and then Tim broke out his laptop and started flying again. Then around 21:20 hours I put in Disc 4 of Season 3 of Emergency. We watched most of the episode when Enders and one of the guys from 20 came in to see the new ambulance. I stopped the DVD and we took them out to look at it. Enders then told me about adding a few more things that he did not know where they were. I put them in and then Tim said about heading up to Koppy to get something to eat. We headed up there and I ordered some popcorn chicken. I then grabbed a soda and the tones went off for breathing problems in Eville Borough. We got back in 6-3 and headed off to the scene. We got there and got the lady loaded up and headed on down to Holy Spirit Hospital. After we got what we needed, we headed on back. I stopped at Sheetz so Tim could get somethint to eat and drink. I also grabbed 5 chicken strips to munch on along with my popcorn chicken. We then headed on back to Eville. We got as far as the Clugston Farm, when the tones went off for chest pains in Upper Paxton Township. I turned around and we headed on up to Millersburg. We got to the scene and they already had the lady loaded in the back of their unit. I moved Tim's gear over to 20-1 and then they headed on down to the hospital. I then headed back to Eville to get Tim some batteries and some supplies to take down to Sheetz with me incase we got another call on the way back again. I stopped at the station and while I was getting his supplies, the tones went off again for breathing problems in Wayne Township. Ambulance 6-5, Kathy and Shultz took that call and got Perry Medic 81 as their ALS. I then stopped at Koppy's and got my chicken and then headed to Sheetz. I talked to Bill while I waited for Tim and 20 to get back. They got back around 03:00 hours and then we headed bacl up to Eville. Once there I helped him restock his gear from the previous two calls. He then went back to the men's bunk room to go to sleep and I ran up to Shell to get fuel. I then headed on back and finally laid down on the couch around 04:10 hours. The tones then went off at 04:30 hours for a sick person, class 1 in Upper Paxton Township. I got up and got the stuff back on my belt and got my boots on. Tim hadn't come out of the bunk room yet, so I walked back and woke him up and told him that was ours. We then got in 6-3 and off we went. We got there and we helped the crew from 20-1 get the lady loaded in their ambulance. Tim ended up releasing the Pt's to BLS and we headed back to the station. Once back, I went back to sleep and did not wake up until 07:45 hours this morning. I got up just as Steve came in the door. He said to pull 6-4, the new unit around to the front. We found a pillow and put it on the stretcher and then me and Stutzman put the stretcher in the new unit. Stutzman then pulled the Reeves off of 6-8 and put it in the oxygen compartment. Zach and Bowser then came out and looked at the unit. Zack agreed with how hedious the lettering looked on the truck. Steve and Tim then put ALS gear on the truck and took it down to New Cumberland to have it inspected and licensed. I then left and headed on home. Once at home I changed into pj's and went back to bed to get some more sleep. I woke up this afternoon at 15:00 hours. I got out of bed and changed into street clothes. I then read the paper and told my mother about my day. I then ate dinner while I watched MASH on TV and did a few things online. I am soon getting ready to leave to head into town to get my hair cut. I am then going to run up to Wal-Mart and get candy for the candy wheel this Saturday. I am then going to come home and take a shower and then am going to hit the old email and surf the net. I will be on late tonight so if any sexy ladies want to talk to me, just give me a buzz.
