Another Busy Night at Work

I went to bed Saturday night around 02:00 hours and got up Sunday morning at 07:10 hours when my alarm went off. I got out of bed and grabbed my digital camera and suitcase and took them out to the kitchen after I got dressed. I then packed my lunch and got my Gatorade bottles together. I then left the house around 07:30 hours and headed up to Eville to go to work. I stopped at Koppy's and picked up a Sunday paper and then continued to work. My father followed me basically almost the whole way to work as he was heading to Evill's station for the Essentials class. I got to work and parked and got my stuff together and headed inside. Audrey came in behind me. When we walked in, it looked like a bomb went off in the day room. Dishes were sitting in the sink and on the counter drying. There was a pot on the stove that still had some stuff in it. I put my lunch box and Gatorade bottles in the fridge and then sat my suitcase, scope and bag on the one couch and clocked in. I then went out to do a rig check and Audrey came out also to help. When we went around to the passenger's side of 6-5, there were cracker and cookies wrapers and an empty soda can on the bay floor. It was disgusted that Zach and Ron would leave the station this way and was also not happy with them. Tim then came in as we were finishing up the rig check. He was very grumpy yesterday morning and I think it was due to him being tired. I then filled out the paperwork and ate my breakfast. Tim checked his gear and then left to go to Wal-Mart and then Burger King. I then put a supply order in that total over $600.00. Tim them came back and went into the men's bunk room and slammed the door behind him. Audrey then asked me about breakfast and I said that I had already eaten and was fine. I asked her if she wanted to go anywhere and she said that she would just go up ti Koppy's and get something. So I grabbed my scope and bag and we got in 6-5 and headed up to Koppy's. She grabbed something and then we headed back to the station. While I was waiting for Audrey to come out of Koppy's I quickly called Boyer and asked him about all the supplies that they brought down from the first aid station at the Gratz Fair. He said that he assummed that they grabbed the stuff out of the BLS room. So once back at the station, I did a quick inventory of the ALS supplies and checked the dates on the medications and IV fluids. I then started to put the BLS supplies from Gratz away when around 09:40 hours the tones went off for a nose bleed in Wayne Township. I grabbed my scope and bag and me and Audrey got in 6-5 and off we went. We got on the scene and went in the house and we got the ladies nose bleed to stop. She didn't want to go to the hospital, so we got her to sign a refusal form and then we went available and headed back to the station. It was a dreary day out and was raining. Once back at the station, Beef and Stutzman were down from Lykens. I told Tim about family fun day and then around 10:55 hours, I grabbed my scope and bag and got in 6-4 and headed on down to the fire house. Once down there I found Troy and asked him where I should park and he had me park on the lawn behind the fire hall. With the rain we did not have the best outcome that we were hoping for. I think they used the smoke trailer a few times. PSP was there and they actually did quite a few finger printings. Forestry came in a little late and set up some hand outs and Smoke the Bear made about a 8 minute apperance. Jean had made a chicken suit and she was wearing it and standing along the road and I saw her as I made the turn onto Enders Road. I then grabbed a half of a chicken and ate it. Jess grabbed a hot dog and sat down beside me and then Barb sat down and the three of us talked. I then had Bill help me set a table up. I then went out to the unit and brought the suction unit, AED and first due BLS bag inside and set them up and sat the pulse ox out on the table. I then also did blood pressure screening. I did at least 35 blood pressures and some of the fire company people I did twice or three times. We had also set up some fire prevention stuff and they had the kiddie games set up inside and DJ Dave was also set up. We ended up tearing everything down around 14:30 hours. I took everything back out and then helped with moving tables and chairs around, putting the chicken trailer away and then talked to a few people and then finally left around 16:30 hours and headed back up to Eville. Once there I put 6-4 out back and then went inside and put my stuff in 6-5. I then sat down and read the sunday paper while Tim and Audrey watched a movie on TV. I then ate my lunch while I read the paper. I then got on the computer to check a few things. Audrey then left at 20:00 hours and I watched some TV. Tim them started working on getting the screen centered on the TV in the day room. Then around 21:30 hours I asked Tim if he was hungry or not and he said not really and I could go get something to eat if I wanted to. Tim went out back to smoke and I got in 6-5 and started the unit up and the tones went off for a sick person in Berrysburg Borough. I went into the day room and got Tim and then we got in 6-5 and off we went. We got there and got the guy loaded up and we took him down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed, we headed on back. Earlier in the evening, around 20:00 hours, 6-7 went up to the Tremont Nursing Home and transported a patient out of there. After we got what we needed, we headed on back. We were on 322 when around 23:40 hours the tones went off for a pshychartic patient in Washington Township. 6-7 handeled that call. We stopped at Sheetz and I grabbed something to eat and then we headed back to the station. Once at the station I restocked my supplies and then helped Tim restock his supplies and then I switched out one of the big O2 cylinders and then I went into the day room and ate dinner while Tim continued to fiddle with the TV. I went to lay down on the couch around 01:10 hours and Tim set his x-box up and we played fomr Halo 3 until I went to bed around 03:00 hours. I was rocked out of bed around 05:30 hours when the tones went off for a sick person, class 1 at Harman Stoves. I got up and got the stuff back on my belt and got my boots on and then me and Tim got in 6-5 and headed to the scene. 13 got out as we were getting ready to load the patient into the bacn of the ambulance and Tim put them in service. After we got him loaded we headed on down to Osteo. After we got what we needed down there, we made a quick run over to Dunkin' Dougnuts and got something to eat for breakfast and then we headed on back to Eville. We got back and again I restocked my supplies and helped Tim with his fears. Once back at the station I gave the run down to Enders, then got my stuff together and headed on home. Once at home I changed into my pj's and went back to bed to get some more sleep. I got up at 11:05 hours and me and my mother got changed and got in her van and quickly ran down to Harrisburg and back up. I then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing. I then ate dinner while I watched MASH on TV. I then left the house around 17:30 hours and headed on up to the fire house. Once up there Bubba, LeeAnn, Lonny and Kenny were all in the fire house. I showed them my big surprice for last night. However as of right now there are still a few other people I want t9o surprise, so I am not going to say what the bg surprise is until they see it. Robby, Dave, and my father all showed up. We loaded up our gear and people into all 3 trucks. Troy and Robby in the Tanker, me and Kenny in the Utility and my father, Bubba, Dave, LeeAnn and Lonny in the Engine. We headed into station 29. Once we figured out what we were doing, we headed to the boat ramp in Halifax Township. Once there I parked the Utility off to the side and grabbed my helmet and jacket as I had already put my bunker pants on back at Station 29. We set up the Engine to draft out of the river first. We used two sections of hard suction and the float strainer and got them together and put them on the front suction and put it in the river. We then got one of the pony sections of 5 inch and hooked it up in the back and then got the 5 inch gated wye to two 2-1/2 and we set up two 2-1/2 inch lines to fill the tankers with. Overall training I thought went pretty good. We filled both Tanker quite a few times and then the Engine switched with Engine 29 and we supplied a portable deck gun off the back of Engine 29-1 while Engine 29-1 drafted out of both dump tanks from both Tankers. After we wrapped everything up at the boat ramp, we headed back to Station 29. Once there, all the trucks filled up at the hydrant behind the station and once me and Kenny changed out of our bunker pants we took the 4 cylinders that needed topped off and had that done. The Engine left after they were done getting filled. We then left and stopped at Shell and got fuel. As I was coming out of the store from paying for the fuel, the Tanker pulled in and we left and headed back to the station. Once there I put the Utility away and put my gear away and then went up to the hall to help tidy it up due to it being rented today. I then shot the shit with everyone and then left around 22:20 hours and headed on home. Once at home I took a shower and am soon going to bed as I am tired.
