Labor Day

I went to bed Saturday night around 01:30 hours and woke up Sunday morning at 07:10 hours when my alarm went off. I got out of bed and got dressed and then grabbed my digital camera and suitcase and took them out to the kitchen. I then packed my lunch and got my Gatorade bottles together. I then left the house around 07:25 hours and headed up to Lykens to go to work. I stopped at Tower Mini Mart and got a Sunday paper. I got up there and parked and took everything inside. O'Neal and Tracey were there and both were awake. I put my lunch box and Gatorade bottles in the fridge and then clocked in and sat mu suitcase behind the couch. They told me that Beef was on his way down to Harrisburg Hospital with Millersburg. Tim then came in about 2 minutes before 08:00 hours. He said that he couldn't get his car started. They then left and I did a rig check on 6-5 and then filled out my paperwork while I ate breakfast. We then got in 6-5 and headed up to Tim's place to try and get his car started. I helped him push his car around so he could try rolling it down the alley beside his house and try to start it. That didn't work and he tried going down another alley. Meanwhile I got back in 6-5 and started heading down to where I thought he would come out. I made the turn and there he was along the side of the street. We were able to jump start his car and he took it back to the station and parked it. We then headed on down to Eville to see about breakfast. We got down to Eville and 6-4 was not there. We figured that the BLS crew had left to head down to Halifax to pick Beef up at Sheetz. We were not there long, when around 09:15 hours the tones went off for ALS to assist Company 13 on a fall victim in Millersburg Borough. Beef got on the air and said he was responding back up with Millersburg and to mark him down as Medic 6-20 and put 6-3 available as a BLS unit. They then came back and we talked about getting 6-1 down to 13's station for Beef since he was going to be heading down to the hospital with them. We then decided to go to Burger King and eat breakfast first and then the BLS crew would take the squad down to 13's station. We got up to Burger King and I got something to eat. We were almost done with breakfast, when the tones went off for a fall victim, class 3 in Eville Borough. The BLS crew took that call. So we were now going to run the squad down to 13's station. Tim said he had to stop at Wal-Mart first, and then he stopped at Shell and got fuel for the squad. He then started heading towards the scene, which I figured he might do. We almost got there, when Capt. Carl got on the radio and asked County to dispatch us to the scene. We pulled in and we ended up running it down as a MICU to Osteopathic Hospital. After we got what we needed, we headed on back. We stopped at Sheetz and Tim got a cup of coffee and I ran in and got one of those gas cards that you now must have to get gas at Sheetz since there have been a lot of drive-offs lately. We then continued on back. I asked Tim if we could swing by my house and if he could do an EKG on my father, since he has been bugging me the past two nights about running up to the Eville Station to have the medic do one on him. Tim said it was not a problem, but would not tell him much. We stopped and Tim did a quick EKG and my father talked to him and then we left and headed back up to Eville. As we were heading back, the tones went off for seizrues in Gratz Borough at the Gratz Fair Grounds. 6-4 ended up taking that down to Harrisburg Hospital, BLS and Beef went available. We got back and talked with Beef and I put a supply order in. Halifax then got dispatched for a fall victim, class 2 on Enders Grove Road in Jackson Township. About 20 minutes later, we heard them ask County to dispatch a medic to the scene. Tim decided to take it to give Beef a break. We got in 6-5 and off we went to the scene. The person was someone I knew and a lot of us in the fire company know, as Bubba was already there. We went in and helped 13 get the guy on a backboard and loaded into the back of the ambulance. I then went back in the house and helped Bubba move the furniture back to where it was. He then left to head back home and get ready to go to work and I headed back to Eville. Once there I sat down and watched some football on TV while Beef worked on his many charts. The BLS crew then got back and me and Bruce talked. Tim then called me and said they were on their way back. So I left and headed on down to Sheetz to pick him up. I pulled in just as they did. I helped move his gear over and then he ran inside to grab something to drink and then we headed back to Eville. Once there I helped him restock his gear and then Beef called us back to see about covering any shifts. I picked up a 12 hour shift next Tuesday, to make it a 24 hour shift in Lykens that day. Beef then said that they got Yeager to come in last night in Eville since they couldn't find a medic and that Yeager wanted us to run out of Eville instead of Lykens. I said about sending the BLS crew up to Lykens to run an ambulance out of there, that way Lykens was covered and we could run the MICU out of Eville. Me and Tim then left around 18:30 hours and headed back up to Lykens. Once there I ate my lunch and read the Sunday paper that I had bought. Tim then found out that Dwayne was coming in for Enders that night and we just decided to run everyone out of Eville. The tones then went off for a sick person in Eville Borough. 6-3 handeled that call and went to Harrisburg Hospital. Tim ordered a pizza for himself from Ciao's and then I loaded my suitcase up into 6-5 and we ran up to Tim's place so he could get his medication for today and then we headed on down to Eville. I stopped at Koppy's and got something to eat and then we went to the station. Once there I ate dinner while we all watched TV. Tim then retired to the men's bunk room to work on his charts and I read the sports section of the Sunday paper. We then had a walk in for breathing problems. They had called the station about 30 minutes prior to them showing up, so we knew they were coming. We ended up taking her down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed, we headed on back. We stopped at the Sunoco on Second Street so Tim could get a cup of coffee and then we continued on back. I then stopped at Shell in Halifax and got fuel and then we headed back to the station. While we were coming up on Fetterhoff's Church, the tones went off for a medic to respond to Tower City for chest pains. We went responding and then 1 minute later, we were placed in service. Once back at the station I finished reading the sports section and then went to sleep around 01:30 hours. I woke up this morning at 07:30 hours and got everything back on my belt and got my boots on and put my pillow away and then took 6-5 back up to Lykens. Jim was already there and Zach came in late as he accidently went to the wrong station. Once he got there, I clocked out and the talked a little bit and then left and headed on home. I decided to stop at McDonald's and get something to eat for breakfast and then stopped at Shell in Eville and got gas and then headed on home. Once at home I changed into pj's and went back to bed to get a little bit more sleep. My mother woke me up at 11:30 hours. I got up and changed into street clothes and then we loaded the van up and headed on down to my grandparents house for a cook out and to celebreate my brother's birthday. We made a quick stop at the Giant on Union Deposit Road so I could pick up 3 bags of chips and my mother could pick up some cat food. We then continued to my grandparents hours. We got there and I talked with my grandparents and then we ate lunch/dinner. I had 3 cheeseburgers. My brother then opened his gift and cards and then we played cards until it was time to eat ice cream cake. After we ate cake, we left around 18:20 hours to head on home. Once at home I took a shower and am now getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. I will be on late tonight so if any sexy ladies want to talk to me, just give me a buzz.
