Nervous Times

I went to bed Thursday night around 02:30 hours and got up Friday morning at 07:10 hours when my alarm went off. I got out og bed and got dressed and then grabbed my digital camera and suit case and took them out to the kitchen. I then packed my lunch and then left the house around 07:30 hours and headed up to Eville to go to work. I stopped at Koppy's to grab a newspaper and a bottle of Gatorade andI ran in to Tom Welker who was also in there. I talked to him a little bit about the problems at Medic 6. I then left and headed down to the station. I got there and parked and grabbed my stuff and headed inside. I put my lunch box and Gatorade bottle in the fridge and then clocked in. Stutzman got up and he got his things together and then left to head up to Lykens to work. I then went out and did a rig check on 6-5 and then checked on supplies and restocked some items. I then went in and Wertz was now up and back in the rear office working on his 6 charts from Thursday. I sat down and talked to him about different things. Bruce then came in and the three of us got talking. I then ate breakfast while I got on the computer to fill out my paperwork and check a few things. Boyer then came in and asked if I wanted to go to breakfast at Special Place and I said that was fine. Then after about a half an hour of screwing around, we finally left for breakfast. We got there and Stutzman was already there. Tim had swapped out with Tracey on the call in Williamstown. We all put our orders in and we all got our drinks and then the tones went off for breathing problems in Gratz Borough. Bruce asked Wertz if he just wanted to handle it with a MICU and Wertz said that was fine. I pulled out a $5.00 bill and gave it to Boyer to pay for my breakfast. Me and Wertz then got in 6-5 and off we went. We got there and naturally Jim was on the scene since it was in town. We got the guy loaded up and then took him down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed, we headed on back. We stopped at Sheetz so Wertz could get something to eat and drink and I grabbed a small soda to drink and then we headed back to the station. When we got back, 6-8 and Tim and Stutzman were there. I restocked Wertz's gear and then checked the supplies that came in and put them away. I then went into the day room and ate lunch while I read the paper. Boyer had brought some chairs down from Reed's that had been in the restaurant when the fire happened earlier this year. They were not using them again, but Boyer was taking them over to his camp and needed to have them cleaned, so he brought them to work and he had Stutzman help him clean them. Tim and Stutzman then left and headed back up to Lykens and then me and Bruce helped Boyer get the chairs back in his SUV. I then finished reading the paper and then Boyer got in 6-1 and left and went somewhere and I watched some TV. Then around 15:30 hours the tones went off for abdominal pains, class 3 in Upper Paxton Township, with us in place of Company 20 who were already out on a call. Me and Bruce got in 6-5 and off we went. We got there and got the lady loaded up and Bruce said he would ride it down and I drove and we took her down to Harrisburg Hospital. After we got what we needed down there, Bruce decided to drive back to give me a break and we headed on back. Once back at the station we switched over to a MICU since Bruce was going with Enders up to the football game at Upper Dauphin. I got on the computer to check a few things and then I sat in the day room and talked some with Wertz. Tracey then came in and the three of us talked some and then Wertz left. Tracey brought dinner with him, so I called in an order to Jo-Jo's. Enders then called me from the game and said that he just found out that they didn't have a stretcher in the back of 6-4, and I said that if they got anything to just give me a call and I would run 6-7 up and they could take the stretcher out of it. I hung up with him and about 5 seconds later, he called back and said that Bruce said to just bring 6-7 up awhile so we could switch stretchers out. So I told Tracey what I was doing and then I was going to stop and grab my dinner. I got up there and we moved the stretcher over and then I headed up to Jo-Jo's to get dinner. I first ran over to Koppy's and grabbed a soda and then went to Jo-Jo's and got my food and then headed back to the station. I got there and once again there was 6-8 with Tim and Stutzman parked out back that I couldn't back the unit back into it's place. Stutzman came out and moved 6-8 and then watched me back 6-7 in and then I took my food inside. They were only there for a little bit and then they left and headed back up to Lykens. I then watched TV while I ate dinner. Then around 21:30 hours the tones went off for chest pains in Halifax Borough. We got in 6-5 and off we went. We got placed in service just as we were getting ready to come into town. I made the turn onto Firehouse Lane and then went down the alley and past the station and then back out to Enders Road and then back on 225 and back to the station. Once back I sat down to watch TV once again. Then around 22:30 hours the tones went off for a call in Lower Mahony Township, but it was only for a BLS unit from Company 20. 20 was already out on a call, and about 5 minutes later our tones went off for us in place of Company 20. We got in 6-5 and this time Tracey drove and we headed up towards Pillow. We thought we were going to be placed in service, because when county gave us in the information, they said it was an accident with no injuries. Well we got all the way to the scene and when I called on the scene to Northumberland County, they advised us that we had already been placed in service, which we never heard and they never told Dauphin County either. So we turned around and headed back to Eville. I asked Tracey to stop at Koppy's so I could grab some Tylenol since I had a pounding headache. We stopped and I got a bottle of Tylenol and a large Pepsi and then we headed back to the station. Once there I filled out a trip sheet and then played some games online and finally went to bed around 02:00 hours. Tracey set up camp on the couch that I usually sleep on and he is a light sleeper, so I said I would sleep in the BLS room. This was the first time that I have ever slept in the BLS room. Most people have been putting the matterss on the floor and sleeping like that. I decided to put the matterss up on the box spring on the bottom bunk. I still had room to lay and sleep and I tried this, but didn't get much sleep as I kept tossing and turning. So finally around 03:00 hours I moved the matterss down to the floor and slept like that, and slept without any problems. I woke up at 07:45 hours when my alarm went off. I got up and put my pillow away and then got the stuff back in my belt and then went out to the day room. I then got my scope and bag out of 6-5 and by that time, Zack was pulling in and then Audrey came in behind him. I clocked out and then used the restroom, then grabbed my check and headed on home. Once at home I changed into old street clothes and talked with my mother for about half an hour while I had a light breakfast. I then left the house around 08:45 hours and headed up to the fire house to help with the soup and apple butter sale today. I got up there and Katina and Bubba were up in the hall and LeeAnn, Jack, Schoffstall, Lonny and Kenny were down in the lower lot working on the soup and apple butter. I helped with stirring the apple butter and opening up cans of beans and putting them in the ham and bean soup and then put corn in the chicken corn soup. My father then called me around 11:45 hours and said to get him a quart of chicken corn soup. So the next time I went up to the hall to use the restroom I told Katina that my father wanted a quart of chicken corn soup and I paid for it ahead of time. I then went back down and then I would say around 12:40 hours my mother called me. She told me that my brother had just called her and said that my grandmother passed out while they were at Hoss's and was unresponsive and that she was being taken by ambulance to Hershey Hospital. I asked her if she wanted me to head on down after we were done and she found out some more information and she said she would let me know then. So I hung up with her and sat down and started to worry about my grandmother. Well then about 20 minutes later, my father stopped his truck in the middle of 225 and asked me if I was going to head down and I said no, and he speed off, and I was unhappy about how he acted about it. I called my mother about 3 minutes later and we had an argument and then hung up. I sat there for about 15 minutes and then I got up and headed up to the hall. I went to the bathroom and then went into the kitchen and got my father's soup and told Bubba that I was leaving and about my grandmother being taken to the hospital. I then took the soup home and put it in the fridge and then got back in my car to head down to Hershey. I called my mother back and told her to call me when they found out where she was at, and my mother told me to slow down and that my brother had called her again and that my grandmother was doing better and she said I could turn around. I told her I was about 20 minutes behind her and that I was passing Fetterhoff's and she said to just turn around and she would keep me updated. I stopped at Fetterhoff's church and we ended up talking for about 15 minutes and then I headed back to the fire house. I went in the hall and told Bubba that I was back and told him what my mother now told me. I then went back down to the lower lot and they were scouping out the apple butter at that time. I then helped carry stuff back up to the fire house and then I had Kenny help me put water on the fire to make sure it was out while I raked it with the Indian rake. I then cleaned up a few things with the hose before I went up to the hall. Jess and Jaz came up to the hall while I was cleaing the stuff up. I then when up to the hall and washed some dishes while Bubba, LeeAnn, and Schoffstall jared up the apple butter. We then started cleaing stuff up and people slowly started to leave. Katina left first and then Schoffstall. Bubba then had me run up to Kratzer's to get some dish soap so we could finish the dishes. While I was up there he also told me to get some Pine Sol, a nozzle for the hose in the station and a new flapper valve for the toilet. I then came back and Bubba had left and went home to get some sleep. Myself, Troy and Lonny then went down to the lower lot and took down the canopy and put it away. I then went up to the hall and took a look at Troy's laptop. He had asked me when I came up to get my father's soup and asked me to look at it then and I told him I had to head to Hershey. LeeAnn then left and then Troy left as me and Lonny were finishing up cleaning up and then we both left around 16:50 hours and headed on home. Once at home I read the paper and then I took a shower. Once I got out of the shower, I made and ate dinner while I did a few things online. I then sat down to watch the Penn State vs. Wisconson game. It is now in the third quarter and the score is 31 to 7, Penn State. My parents got home around 21:30 hours and I talked to my mother to see how my grandmother is doing. They are going to keep her overnight to keep an eye on her. They really didn't say why she passed out at the restaurant, but they found cancer on her spine. So we will take it one day at a time right now and see how things go. I am now getting ready to hit the old email and surf the net. I will be on late tonight so if any sexy ladies want to talk to me, just give me a buzz.
