One of Each Kind
I went to bed Thursday night around 03:00 hours and got up at 06:50 hours when my alarm went off. I got out of bed and got dressed and then grabbed my digital camera and suitcase and took them out to the kitchen. I then packed my lunch and then left the house around 07:00 hours and headed up to Swab's. I stopped at Swab's and grabbed my camera and headed over to the shop to get pictures of all the materials in a pile that are going to become the body of our new Squad. I then left and stopped at Koppy's and grabbed a bottle of Gatorade and a newspaper and then continued on up to Lykens to go to work. I got there and no one was there, as they had no medic for the night shift in Lykens. I parked and took my stuff inside and put my lunch box and Gatorade Bottle in the fridge and then clocked in. I then did a rig check on 6-3 and then ate breakfast while I filled out my form for the rig check on the computer and checked a few other things. Fortney then came in about 10 minutes after 08:00 hours and said that the night shift from Eville was out on a call. He then checked his gear and asked about breakfast and I said that I already ate, but if he wanted to go somewhere, we could. So we headed on down to Special Place and ate breakfast. I had my usual, a side order of toast and a side order of white toast. After we were done eating, we headed back up to Lykens. Once back at Lykens, Fortney went to bed to get some sleep and I did my 30 laps in the bays and then got on the computer and played games. I ate lunch while I was on the computer around 13:00 hours. Tim had called around Noon and asked if Fortney wanted to do anything to lunch and he said that he was fine and went back to sleep. I had sent Boyer a text message asking him to stop at the Lykens station on the way home so I could talk to him. I brought him up to speed on my Grandmother. I told him that if it was ok, that if I would ever get a call while I was at work, that she was starting to go down hill, if once I talk to the Supervisor, I could leave. He said he didn't have a problem and he is not one to stand in the way of a family matter. The tones then went off around 15:45 hours for breathing problems in Millersburg. 6-3 handeled that one and Fortney then got up and asked me if I had eaten lunch and I said yeah and asked him if he wanted to go anywhere and he said he would get some chicken from Wal-Mart. We then headed on down to Wal-Mart and he got something to eat and a few other things. While we were in Wal-Mart, I heard 20-2 go to the hospital BLS and 6-3 go available. We then headed on down to the Eville station to see what was going on. I then put the new Reeves stretchers on 6-5, 6-7, 6-8, and 6-3. I also put the pediatric backboard and new shortboard/speedboard in 6-3. I then loaded the stuff in the back of 6-3 that needed to go on 6-4. I then pulled the scope from 6-4 off of 6-3 and took it out back and put it with the other two. I then grabbed the webbing from the rope bag that came off of 6-1 and was about ot put it in a bag, when the tones went off for a fall victim in Lykens Borough. I threw the webbing on the one couch in the day room and asked Stutzman to help me get the stuff out of the back of 6-3 and then me and Fortney got in and off we went. We got there and got the guy loaded and took him down to Harrisburg Hospital. While we were going down, the tones went off for breathing problems in Upper Paxton Township. Tim handled that in 6-7, as the siren on 6-2 isn't working, and also as Stutzman had to go with Enders to cover the football game. After we got what we needed, we headed on back. We stopped at Shell and I got fuel and then we continued onto Eville. We then stopped at the Eville station and Fortney finished his tripsheet and I helped him restock his gear and then we left to head back up to Lykens. We stopped at Koppy's so Fortney could pick up a few things and then we continued on back to Lykens. As we were starting into Lykens, we heard Enders get on the radio and call county and ask for an ALS unit to be dispatched to the Upper Dauphin High School football field for a traumatic injury. I turned down a side street and then back onto the main street and we headed for the high school soocer field as Fortney asked about the status of Life Lion. A few minutes later, Stutzman called and asked county the same thing and they told him that it was already on stand-by and he told them to put it in the air. We got there and then they came over from the field and we got in the back and Fortney started getting IV's into the kids arm. Life Lion then got there and the kid was transferred to them and then we went available. I stopped at Koppy's now and got another bottle of Gatorade and a bag of party mix and then we stopped at Burger King so I could get something to eat for dinner as the time was now after 22:00 hours. We then headed back up to Lykens. Once there I got the stuff out of the back of 6-3 and got it on 6-4 and then went in and sat down to watch TV while I ate dinner. Boyer then sent me a text to come out front as he was out front talking to Fortney and wanted to shoot the shit. While we were talking, around 23:05 hours the tones went off for chest pains in Wiconisco Township for a frequent flyer. I let Fortney drive to the scene so I could finish eating my dinner and it ended up being only abdominal pain and was released to BLS and we got him in the truck and took him down to Harrisburg Hospital. While on the way down, Bubba had called me and I told him I would call him back in 30 minutes as I was on a call. After we got what we needed, we headed on back to Lykens and I talked to Bubba for about half of the time. When we got to just before Dollar General, we noticed that traffic was slowing down and then we saw why, there was a PSP DUI Checkpoiunt and John was there helping out. Once back at the station I did my tripsheet and then laid down on the couch and watched TV. I then called Bubba again and joked with him about the DUI Checkpoint and he asked me if I had tried to get ahold of Jess and I said I didn't know that she had gone out and he said that supposidly her and Brian went out somewhere. So I called her cell and she didn't answer and I left a voice message for her. I then went to sleep around 02:45 hours and woke up this morning at 07:45 hours when I heard Zach come in the station. I got up and got the stuff back on my belt and then put my pillow away and then clocked out and left after giving my report to Zach and I headed on home. Once at home I changed into pj's and went back to bed to get some more sleep. I then got up this morning at 11:00 hours. I got up and ate lunch while I read the paper. I then changed into street clothes and left the house around 12:00 hours and headed on down to Osteo to visit my Grandmother. Before I left this morning, my mother did tell me that they did diganose my Grandmother with lung cancer yesterday. I got down there and parked and then headed to the ICU. My mother had told me that they were planning on moving my Grandmother into a regualr room today, but she didn't know when. I got to the ICU and they had already moved her as she wasn't in her room. So I asked the nurse where they moved her to and she told me and then I headed to her new room. I went in and sat down and we talked. My Grandfather then came in, followed by my brother. The four of us then talked some until my grandmother started to look like she was going to fall asleep. We then left and I headed on home. I stopped at Sheetz and got gas and then stopped at the fire house and dropped off the bag of webbing and then headed on home. I am now soon going to eat dinner and then am going to hit the old email and surf the net. I will be on late tonight as I am going to watch the Penn State vs. Ohio State game on TV. So I will be on late so if any sexy ladies want to talk to me, just give me a buzz.
