More Play Time at a Structure Fire

I left the house last night around 19:10 hours and headed up to Eville to go to work. I got there and parked and went inside and put my Gatorade bottle in the fridge and then clocked in. Zach and Dean were still there. I then did a rig check on 6-4 and then checked the ALS and BLS Supplies and put a small order in. Kuntz then came in as my medic over night and I played Texas Hold-Em Poker on the computer. Then around 21:00 hours the tones went off for a CVA in Upper Paxton Township. We got in 6-4 and off we went. Kuntz ended up going down with 20 and I headed back to the station and played some more poke until I heard them go arriving at Osteo and then I made my way down to Sheetz in Halifax. I then got some chicken strips and then talked to Bubba and Bill until 20 got back and I then helped Kuntz move his gear over and then we went available and headed back to the station. Once back there I helped Kuntz restock and then I ate my chicken strips while I went back to playing poker on the computer. Kuntz then went to bed around 00:30 hours and I watched TV until 03:00 hours and then I laid down on the couch and went to sleep. I woke up at 07:40 hours when Kathy sent me a text message and then she called me and said she was going to be running about 15 minutes late and I said that was fine. I got up awhile and got the stuff back on my belt and put my pillow away and then got my stuff out of the unit. Jim then came in and then Kathy came in and I gave her my rig report and then we talked for a little bit and then I left and headed to Swab's. Once at Swab's I took a few pictures of the body now that it has the rough wiring complete to it. I then left and headed on home. Once at home I talked to my mother some and then I changed into pj's and went back to bed to get a little more sleep. I woke up around 11:30 hours and I got out of bed and ate lunch and read the paper. I had finished eating lunch and was just now reading the paper when at 12:19 hours the pager went off for a structure fire in Upper Paxton Township and the Tanker and Engine were both due. I ran back to my room and kicked my slippes off and got socks and my jeans on. I then grabbed my wallet, pager and cell phone, got my shoes on and then grabbed my keys and got in my car and took off for the fire house. I pulled in and Bubba was just going in the front door of the station. I parked and then ran into the fire house and kicked my shoes off as Bubba started the Tanker up. I then got my bunker pants on and then grabbed my jacket and helmet. I sat my helmet on the dashboard in the Tanker as Bubba was getting in and I told him I would get the bay door. As he pulled out Schoffstall pulled in and as I went out the front door, I saw Ray was there also. I then got in the Tanker and off we went. I initally started to get my mask on and then Bubba said that I was with him unless they were going to need man power. So I put the mask back. By the time we got to the borough, the Engine went responding with 5, which was Jason (driving), Dave, Ray, Eric, and Schoffstall. As we were turning on to 147, command reduced everything that wasn't already on the scene to class 3. We got on scene and pulled in behind Tanker 26 and then Dave called in to Command and asked for an assignment and command said that they wanted their manpower to the scene. Bubba then told me to go ahead and pack up, which I did and I also grabbed the multi-purpose hook off of the Tanker and went to the man power pool with the Engine crew and gave my tag to Chief 28 who was in charge of the man power pool. By the time we got there, they had a good knock on the fire, but only a 1/3 of the house was left standing. Here come to find out it is one of Bubba's cousin's house. We stood in the man power pool for I would say close to half and hour and then Mike Wertz decided to use us. While we were waiting in the manpower pool, I think the most exciting part was when the oil tank vented through the fill pipe in the front of the structure. They wanted to tear down the exterior walls and wanted to use us as we still had packs on and it was going to get smokey. So we used 10 foot pike poles and pulled down the remaining walls so they could wet everything down. Then we went up to rehab and got our cylinders filled and then command said that we were released. Bubba decided to go back on the Engine so he could get ready to go to work. Jason then became my driver as the Tanker was still suppling Tanker 20 at the time. Once we filled Tanker 20, we went to the fill site and got filled and then went available. The Engine had already gone available like 20 minutes earlier. We then ran into Shell and got fuel and then headed back out to the station. Once there I got out of my bunker gear and got my shoes back on and then cleaned my mask and wiped down the SCBA and the multi-purpose hook, even though I didn't use it, it had mud on the end of it. While I cleaned my mask we all shot the shit, including Lonny who had stopped on his way home from work. They all then left while I was wiping down the SCBA. Once everything was dry ,I put it away and then headed on home. Once at home I got on the computer to update the website and then ate dinner while I watched MASH on TV. I then left around 17:30 hours and headed up to the fire hall for bingo tonight. Bingo was very light tonight and we had to lower our payouts to $10.00. Bingo went ok, considering the light crowd. Once bingo was over, myself and Troy helped Lonny load the docking plate and pallet jack in the trailer for the fruit that is coming today and then we left and headed on home. Once at home I took a shower and am soon going to bed as I am tired.
